Forums - Sony - When do I get to shoot someone in Uncharted 3?

I blame VGChartz for putting Uncharted 3 in the shooter category for GOTY. Creates the wrong expectations and false impressions of what the game is.

Play another hour or two and it'll get better. I thought it was a bit slow (although I'm a fan of the story and everything), but your desired action is around the corner. The shooting definitely is fun, but not the highlight of the game.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
Proud pre-orderer of 2 PS4's and an Xbox One.

Currently Playing: Dark Souls II, South Park
Playstation 4: MGS V GZ, Killzone: Shadow Fall, NBA 2k14.

It is evident you don' care for the plot so why did you get the game?

Every Uncharted fan I know came uncontrollably during Colombia, Cartagena and I personally loved the london pub with the amazing opening and genious plan of Drake. Much more thought out than Uncharted 2 imo which doesnt pick up story-wise until Nepal. The betreyal of Flynn was so expected unlike the character of Cutter.. The dude who did his voice said he's playing a villain and the beta had him in villain category. Aaand theyre gone. Loved it.

Youll get more than enough gunplay soon enough, but I predict youll be coming here sharing a bunch of negative aspects on the game.

Besides, havent you started fleeing from London underground? Theres a massive shoot-out as you head out..

Why don't you just play the multiplayer,if the single-player is boring for you?

I don't like Uncharted's multiplayer. And besides, I have the Starhawk beta to fill my multiplayer needs.

@Khuutra, because I'm tired of walking around and not doing much.

Oh and what was up with those guys shooting a kid?

So you don't like Uncharted's multiplayer, nor do you like Uncharted's story. In conclusion, you bought the game just to ''shoot someone''.Why aren't you playing COD or Battlefield, if that's the case?

Coming from U2's great campaign (The story, the flow, character development etc), I felt let down by U3's campaign. One half of the game you are with a certain set of characters and Chloe makes basically a guest appearance at best for a chapter or two. Then the second half you interact with different main characters. I Mean Chloe and Elena weree major Characters in U2, yet in U3, they feel like spectators at best. I know ND wanted to explore the Drake-Sully relationship, but that doesn't mean they should shaft the others. Chloe and Elena aren't even in 1 single scene together. The pace of U2 was better too, as everything flowed better with the how the story pans out. U3's flow is go here, then here for a little bit, wait that's how quickly it ended? The villains wern't great either and then they end with that so called "Boss Fight". U1's Boss fight was better than that shit. IMO, This is the reason U2 won all those GOTY, and U3 hardly won anything.

Jesus, ADHD much? Play COD if you want to shoot someone. Uncharted is about atmosphere not the shooting. Loving all the Uncharted 3 hate btw.

Same thing with Zelda: Skyward Sword. When do I get to chop something? In Zelda 1, five seconds into the game, it was "It's to dangerous to go alone. Take this." Get the sword. Murder shit.

Uncharted 3 is a good game but I don't know how good of an idea it was for those Naughty boys to change things up so much. Some people bought into the series for the fast paced gunplay and intensity. Force feeding them a repetitive melee mechanic and excessive puzzle is going to turn some people off. The graphics crazed, story hungry, cut-scene loving crowd seems just as happy as ever, though.

Its not a shooter but you still shoot a lot.

I remember in U2, you had a level where you running along a train, fighting an army and a helicopter.

Another mission where the town you where was under siege.

Also the final mission where you had to fight those crazy hard beasts.

So the game does have a lot of shooting.

A lot of games are guilty of this storytelling and scripting gameplay for the sake of story. Uncharted 2 was as well, but it had an above average story to tell. I'd still prefer it to be more gameplay oriented and unpredictable(less scripting), and from the sound of things it doesn't look like Uncharted 3 went that route.

Every game should be more like Halo lol. I mean, in a game like Uncharted, Call of Duty, Gears of war...whatever... when do you ever get more than one or two ways to tackle a set piece or an enemy? Never.
In Halo, you literally have dozens or ways of taking them out...this makes it fun today, tomorrow, a week from now, 10 years from now. And its not like Halo didn't deliver a great story in the process of being awesome in terms of gameplay.

No, what we need is variety, not every game being like Halo. But if Halo had been multiplatform from the start, I'm sure many more games would play like Halo today, just like we saw after Cod's success with almost all FPS games (and even RPG and TPS games)

I'm not saying that every game needs to control and play like halo...However they did nail the unpredictable gameplay down to a science. Thanks to stellar AI, very balanced set pieces and many factors at play which can contribute to a desired outcome...some which don't even involve you and your actions.

Biggest mistake these new action games do is that they are programmed to wait for your action to trigger an event. Like..."Pick up rocket launcher and attack a tank....Pick it up...Pick up rocket launcher."...game can not continue till you do so.  The game is telling me how to play it...how freekin lame and boring is that?

In Halo, rocket laucnher is somewhere to the side, as are 4 other weapons. If you want to go take on the tank with a handgun, you're welcome to do so. There are very few games that do this and I really don't understand why...

And Halo games still manage to tell a story in the process so you can do a story driven experience without scripting the shit out of it. Look at Mass Effect 2...awesome story, not scripted at all.
