Forums - Sony - When do I get to shoot someone in Uncharted 3?

are you joking? i love games that have a good build up. clearly you should be playing MW3 if you just wanna "shoot".

Worst than the Melee fighting?

Signature goes here!

OP I guess you've been pounded enough, but trust me, not everything should be the same. It's just gets too boring and too "lowest common denominator".

U3, true to its roots, simply starts with a different, fresh set of staples from the pulp adventure genre, so we get a rough and tumble fight, back story on relatively - by this point - well known characters to further round them out, and a slow, mystery led start to the adventure.

Sure, they could have got shooting in earlier - but then it would just be a re-play of narrative they've already covered before. U3 is fresh in how it starts next to 1 and 2 and I personally found it more than engaging enough.

Of course, if you're just wondering "who's he following" vs wondering just how the narrative is going to bring Sully and Nate together then I'd suggest you're really looking for Uncharted the shooter vs Uncharted the adventure.

Not saying there's anything wrong with preferring shooters, but Uncharted as a series has been steadily moving from tons of shooting (the first game) to more and more spread of game-play types and less reliance on constant shooting. Maybe the franchise is just going in a different direction from your tastes.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I enjoyed the first two Uncharted games, so that's why I picked it up. And because it was only $30. I'm just disappointed they went more on the scripted gameplay route. The first hour was just walking.

Anyways, I played for another hour or so, and wow, the aiming & shooting are horrible. I don't remember them being bad in U2; this is awful.

They added better aiming via a patch. I think you have to activate it in the options.

*kiss*

Thank you Boutros! Now maybe I could start enjoying the game. Wish I knew that before the Chateau and Citadel levels.

@oldschool, who said I wasn't? I'm also playing the Starhawk beta (pretty awesome) and GTAIV (not that great imo).

Anyways, I'm in chapter 12, and I'm just not feeling the game. The Chateau level was kind of cool when it was burning; it added some nice little tension, but the other levels haven't done anything for me.

I also hate that there are too many chases/running-away segments: one when you run away as young drake, two of running away from the spiders, another from the rockets, one when the building is collapsing, another one in the Citadel, and then when you're chasing Talbot or w/e his name is. I just find it boring tilting the left analog stick.

Another issue I have is melee countering. I don't know who's bright idea was it to have the triangle button be both melee countering and picking up ammo/weapons. During the Citadel level, I had to face Brute (the big guy) again, and whenever I wanted to counter, Drake would pick up ammo or another weapon instead. I almost died because of that. And speaking of melee, I really wish they would stop forcing melee on me, since melee isn't good (especially after playing Batman). The fights between Charlie and Talbot were awful, imo, and the market fight wasn't good as well.

Coming from U2's great campaign (The story, the flow, character development etc), I felt let down by U3's campaign. One half of the game you are with a certain set of characters and Chloe makes basically a guest appearance at best for a chapter or two. Then the second half you interact with different main characters. I Mean Chloe and Elena weree major Characters in U2, yet in U3, they feel like spectators at best. I know ND wanted to explore the Drake-Sully relationship, but that doesn't mean they should shaft the others. Chloe and Elena aren't even in 1 single scene together. The pace of U2 was better too, as everything flowed better with the how the story pans out. U3's flow is go here, then here for a little bit, wait that's how quickly it ended? The villains wern't great either and then they end with that so called "Boss Fight". U1's Boss fight was better than that shit. IMO, This is the reason U2 won all those GOTY, and U3 hardly won anything.

I went outside once, the graphics were great but the gameplay sucked!

Eugh. Okay, the combat in general is the worst part. Shooting is the worst part of Uncharted 3 in particular.
