haha like you wouldn't know japan isn't emeaa. funny ethomaz is funny... it was always an own part on vgchartz and you know that. maybe you should have said emeaap or so then.

I said PS3 will sold 715k WW this week with over 400k in EMEAA (Europe  + AP/MEA - yeah Japan is here too)... it sold 700k... 15k less than I predicted.

Europe Mid East Africa Asia

Japan is Asia, no?

That prediction doesn't actually make any sense, though. If you're predicting 400k in Europe, Mid, East, Africa and Asia, and 715k worldwide, you're essentially predicting 315k in Americas. Considering USA is the vast majority of Americas, you were predicting just shy of 300k to be sold in USA.

That would have been an increase of 100k week-on-week in USA, or an increase of 53%, which would have made for an absolutely horrible prediction.

If you didn't count Japan as part of EMEAA, you made a good-to-decent prediction that missed very barely. If you count Japan as part of EMEAA, you just made an incredibly odd prediction.

Didn't it sell under 400k in EMEAA? It sold 413k in Europe + AP/MEA. It sold 44k in Japan, (not counting the rest of AP) it sold about 370k.

He also said that the X360-PS3 difference would be 70-80k.

Yes but PS3 is looking horribly undertracked in the Americas at this rate it won't sell more than 900k (Which it sold in the U.S.A. alone in one month in November) The fact that VGC can't accept that the PS3 is outperforming the Wii in the U.S.A./ Americas is really pissing me off now. And more adjustements needed for November 2011 in the Americas section. Why did 360 get pushed down? And how is Wii STILL above PS3 in Americas? This is just ridiculous

While making our own predictions for whether we think VGChartz is over- or undertracking consoles is fine, accusing the site of having an anti-Ps3 bias is just silly.

The site has been over and undertracking different consoles several times. The X360 has been overtracked at times, the Wii has been overtracked at times, the Ps3 has been overtracked at times, as has the DS and PsP. They've all been undertracked at times too. When the numbers are wrong, it's down to an error, or just the data sample not being representative. It isn't down to a petty dislike of one console, that's all in your mind.

The by far most likely reason for why it isn't updated yet, is that VGChartz has to be relatively certain before updating the numbers. They also need to be a lot more precise than what you need. Let's say they find out that the X360 is hugely undertracked. They have to find out both in which weeks it was undertracked and in which countries it was undertracked. They can know that their numbers are wrong, but if they don't have any better estimates, they have to stick to the ones they have.

I understand what your trying to say and I did think that eariler. But given the fact that they've already adjusted the weeks and are still undertracking the PS3 and overtracking the Wii in the coming weeks (I'm basing this on November 2011 NPD) really sounds stupid. Despite them having data that can provide them with most of the information for each territory (with the exception of Asia and Pasific and some countries in Europe) they still haven't gotten down accurate data. I must say there software tracking and hardware tracking is now much stronger in Europe and its much more weakning in the U.S.A./Americas.

The main problem is that what you consider proof isn't the same as a professional tracking site can call proof. I can't actually find any source on the Eurogamer article, so it could very well be some incorrect or misinformed person.

You're easy to convince. You'll see most indications of the Ps3 being undertracked as concrete proof. There are similar people with the X360 and Wii too, it's quite common really. Your problem with VGChartz is that they're actually awaiting concrete proof instead of adjusting their numbers every time there's any kidn of indication they might be slightly off.

For instance, you're saying "The fact that VGC can't accept that the PS3 is outperforming the Wii in the U.S.A" based on the Ps3 being above the Wii in November NPD, and VGChartz having it the opposite way around, correct? In other words you're calling it a fact, but all you have is really a hunch that's backed up somewhat by old numbers. It's quite far from a fact.

This might seem rude, but I figure it's okay as it's just saying the same to you as you said about the site. You're saying that you're really pissed off that VGChartz isn't facing the truth, and fooling people to believe a false truth, but the case is just as likely - if not more likely - to be you fooling yourself into a false truth.

It's the same problem with practically everyone who insults the site and yells for adjustments.  The problem is with them to a far larger degree than the site.

Edit: Or, just view it this way. ioi, the leader of the site, has these charts as his job. It's what he does for a living. You, dsage own two of the machines and have a clear preference in which you think is superior. Who do you think is more likely to have an objective view of the situation? I'm no better than you, though, I have my definite preferences too, but I'm aware that I'm biased, so I don't insult the site or yell for adjustments based on scarce proof.

Looks like Xbox isnt stomping PS3 all that badly.

I understand and agree with pretty much everything you say. I'm going to cover this in 2-3 sentences because I don't want this to become some huge controversy. According to VGC the adjustments have already been made for the U.S.A. and considering the fact that PS3 is ahead of the Wii according to NPD but below the Wii in Americas. That's what I was trying to say in simple words.

just wait till shipments. vgchartz have no excuses but to adjust then. i mean theres only so much that can be "on shelves"
