For me it goes to Uncharted 3. From the single player to the MP it was the first time I felt that I was actually interacting with the atmospher/ environment to proceed through the game. I just loved that feeling. But Killzone 2 comes second for me and at a close third is Bioshock.

Are you referring to the way that Nate tocuhes the wall instead of just running into it, as I do agree that made a huge difference, even with the issues of his selective grabbing

Yeah, I agree with this, although the glitches and certain animations kind of ruined it.

And how could I forget Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, definately one of the most atmospheric games mainly due to the well fitting and catchy soundtrack, the game had so much style and depth, damn I need to play it.

I forgot to mention one of the best examples:

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

This game perfectly captured 1980s Miami. From the locales to the clothing to the music on the radio, it had one of the best atmospheres I've ever seen in a game.

I totally agree with this one. i keep wanting to play it, then remeber that the shooting really sucked (it was fairly awful in SA too) so don't want to spoil my perfect memories of the game. I would also like to point out that this made me feel like I was in the 80's despite not being alive then and not watching the films that it is insipred by (though I would like to because of VC)

Silent Hill 2
Ico
Shadow of the Colossus
Deus Ex
Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl
System Shock 2
Thief 2
Call of Cthulhu
Half Life 2
Halo CE

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I thought that the shooting was pretty terrible in Vice City but that it was actually pretty decent in San Andreas. Once you graduate to the better guns (mainly the assault rifles), gunfights are pretty easy.

I came into this thread with a list of games, but all have already been suggested:

Zelda: MM
Metroid Prime
Shadow of the Colossus
Bioshock
Okami

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain & Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
