Im loving it best dashboard so far. The only downside is the Ads ii mean they could get away with it in the previous dashboards but its so noticeable now.

Funny I cant recall one instance where the 360 dashboard forced me to watch an advertisement before I got to what I wanted to look at/play.

I don't get what the big problem with the ads are. As long as they feel relevant, then ads like what we have on the new dashboard are fine. I wish Microsoft would use the space to promote more games though, new downloadable games in particular.
More variation would also be good, as an irrelevant ad isn't as likely to be thrown at you so often.

Was in beta the whole time on 2 out of the 3 boxes in my house. It sounds funny but I got so used to the new dash in such a short amount of time that whenever I used the old one, I noticed the difference. As for the main update now, I'm still liking the look and most of all speed of everything. I'm not one that's going to utilize all of the features but I have noticed some trade offs with Netflix already although minor. The big thing for me is the loss of ability to change from 4:3 aspect to stretch or zoom. A few of the shows I play for my daughters are in 4:3 and I don't like keeping the black bars on my plasma. The work around is using the tv's remote to change but then when you back out to the menu, everything is still stretched or zoomed....it blows. Also I don't see a recently watched section anymore. That's more minor but something I was used to. The work around there is to just add to instant que which is only the press of a button away. I haven't tried the Kinect controls yet but I'm optimistic after hearing some of the comments here.

I don't mind the ads, we all have to deal with them in some capacity these days. As others have said, they mostly seem relative to what you are looking at, at the very least no worse than this beard man fuck over to the right here.

Stoked for Youtube more than anything though, I will use this a bunch.

Calm down, take a breath and try to get used to it because once you do I bet you'll grow to love it.

You say the new update is horrible yet all you mention is Netflix and ads (which is irrelevent because they've always been on the 360 dashboard and now they are not in the way unlike past dashboards)

Netflix playing right away is rather annoying but other than that but the new interface for it as a whole is more convient. And as far as the video quality goes it's now like the PC where it starts out having horrible quality but then gets into HD...in fact I prefer it that way because now it doesn't stop 3-5 times a movie to say "your bandwidth has changed" now the video quality will drop for a few seconds before it gets better. And I could be wrong but I think Netflix is the one who have made that app not MS (could be wrong on that though)

I replied positive but I have an issue with Apps not working correctly. When I click on Zune it downloads itself again and then goes back tot he screen I started from. It was doing this on and off during the preview damned annoying that it is still doing it. I can for example only start Sky through Quickplay if I do it anywhere else it does the same as the Zune.

I do like the companion App it has real potential. If it could allow me to speak into for searches that would be cool and if it allowed me to type from the phone rather than the console in more scenarios. Of course it would be nice if I could control the music too but that is broke at the moment for me.

Really though that's just not going to happen not now or in the future.

Don't get me wrong intrusive ads are annoying as hell and I don't think we should have ads if we are paying for XBL. I hate all the ads on TV, Hulu, some on internet sites. 

But with that said the ads on XBL have never been intrusive or annoying, especially with this new update. All they have is one small section at the bottom of each main area (home, Video, games, music and apps) and I'm looking at those right now and most of them are about games. So I really don't see a huge problem here.
