Forums - Sony - Uncharted 3 . . . Were We The Ones That Were Deceived?

I did think it was true so I looked up the cutsceane on youtube  and its true, it around 25:20

Definitely pre-rendered, the shots with Chloe looked messed up but you can tell by the facial detail and animations, especially on Sully, that the scene is pre-rendered.

It's very odd that it ended up looking like that, probably a result of rushed development or something. The game did feel rushed, no doubt about it, it wasn't anywhere near as polished as Uncharted 2.

i played a different game apparently.
those are terrible quality screen captures, and probably in standard def too.

but i will admit, i do think the multiplayer character models looked better to me in Uncharted 2 than uncharted 3. but i believe thats because of character customization, and more resources going to networking. for example Uncharted 3 has a whole lot more insanely complex thing going on in multiplayer, that 2 didnt have, and most likely that takes up a lot of resources, which have to be allocated to the networking. like the plane sequences, and train.
furthermore i think the multiplayer maps look better and have more detail than the uncharted 2 ones (except for multen ruins. flooded ruins looks better to me)

that's like the ps3 trailers before ps3 was released and then the real games looked like shit against these trailers. looks like two different generations of playstations.

if you are talking about the KZ2 trailer , then no, the final build of KZ2 looked great compared, GG have broke more technical barriers than Naughty Dog were ever credited for.

KZ2 looked great, ran great although had some loading problems, and KZ3 looked even greater with no loading problems and was pretty artistic looking with lots of special effects.

naughty dog is overrated, they take lots of credit just because Uncharted 2 looked great, but it seems they didn't bother themselves with Uncharted 3 much.

Killzone 3 had it's fair share of glitches, definitely more than Uncharted 3 from what I've played. Oh and UC3 looks beautiful, though of course not "godlike", I don't know what you guys are smoking. Maybe you expecting UC3 to make the technical leap seen in UC1-UC2 and were inevitably dissapointed.

Also, slightly off topic: Uncharted > Killzone.

I thought certain chapters were "godlike".

...But there were other areas of the game that I thought looked no better than the first Uncharted.

The desert chapter blew me away though, I was speechless, there is "godlike", and then there is that Chapter, my reaction wasn't far off Aldro's when I first saw it.

by the way i took all these from Phone not a straight screenshot, as you can see they're the same as the "Crappy" photos (like you guys say) that OP has posted.

they really rushed this one, but everyone is praising them.

I have no idea which position to take on this.

Uncharted 3 was one of the greatest games I've ever played and I love it to death. Parts of it are the greatest of any videogame ever made. It deserves to sell great and this will do nothing to help that.

On the other hand parts of Uncharted 3 suck. Getting rid of personal tastes on plot, sets, and gameplay I'm still left with a lot to complain about. First off is what the heck happened with Chloe and Elena? At first I thought the models must have just changed over the past two years but these E3 screenshots prove Naughty Dog deliberately changed out perfect versions of them matching previous games with all new weirdo versions. If they just showed these models at E3 we could have yelled enough to get them fixed but now it is too late. Unless they patch in SP tweaks(another huge thing screwed up) and gave them "classic" skins.

And now I can move on to the graphics. At times Uncharted 3 looks like the best video game ever made. The rest however look like trash compared to their E3 versions. Simply put I think Naughty Dog ran out of time to finish the game and rushed parts out the door. Such a shame for one of the greatest games ever made.

They are praising them because when the graphics in this game are at it's best, they ARE the best.

Rushed or not, they deserve praise.

Hmmm. I don't think that the game looks as anywhere near as bad as that, certainly not from my memory of playing it on my TV. But yes it isn't as good in gameplay as the ones on the left either... those are cut scene standard from the game.

I do think that people are sometimes guilty of saying look how wonderful it is and then showing a cut scene. the cut scenes look significantly better than gameplay. Which is why the ad in the Uk had "representative of gameplay" plastered all over it. But people do that for lots of games from all systems.

I dont know, theres a couple time it took me a few seconds to realise I was in gameplay and not in a cutscene anymore. Better, yeah probably, but significantly better sound exagerate to me.
