I doubt the prices are final because Japan and Hongkong got the better deal in terms with the memory cards.

How much are those?

apple fanboys have been doing the same for over a decade.......nothing new. People will bitch and moan about the price of card but in the end they will get one. |
Just like PS3 or 3DS? Some tiny hardcore fan base might be prepared to buy console at any price but fans are very tiny part of gaming population. At least there are a lot Apple fans but there are very few Sony fans. And even over 90% of the people who Apple products are not actually Apple fans.
They might be prepared to pay that much, if this has any huge games at start and PSVita doesn't have any of them. Uncharted is tiny game compared to for example Mario Kart, Mario Kart will easily sell 3 times as much as Uncharted and even that would require failure of Mario Kart. And, no, I don't expect this to have any better start than 3DS, actually I'm sure PSVita will start a lot worse than 3DS. 5-6 months from start Sony would have to drop price, just like 3DS.
I won't buy PSVita unless price is less than 200 euros WITH memory card. Especially when there are no games on PSVita that I would have to have.

Most of the time I have my doubts whether people are being intentionally sarcastic.

Well you will be waiting a long time for that so...enjoy.
I hope these are just place holders, similar to when Gamestop listed the NGP at $999.99.
I am going to want at least 8-16GB and thinking of laying out $50-80 on a card bugs me.
Hopefully Gravity Rush doesn't require one, that way I could wait for Memcard prices to drop a bit.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Are you sure? I heard they leave space on the game cartridge for DLC and Save files.
As for the card prices, they are very expensive, but it's what I expected.
The sizes seem very reasonable though and I doubt people would need that much space, I will be buying all of my PS Vita games at retail and using the memory cards for PS1 classics and PSP games, I will need 8gb or 16gb which I could probably find for £20 / £35 if I looked in the right place.
I won't be buying the PS Vita straight away, so hell, I could probably get it even cheaper.

Depends upon the developer if they want to use it.

USA doesn't have VAT. They have costs/taxes that are included in the price of a product due to passing corporate taxes/costs off to the consumer, but there is no VAT in USA. I assume you might mean does the price include sales tax.
Here is the difference between sales tax and VAT.
"Most states have a retail sales tax charged to the end buyer only. Unlike in the VAT, wholesale sales and sales of raw materials or unfinished goods are not taxed. A common misconception is that sales to businesses are untaxed. Sales to businesses are taxed if the business (or its workers) are the end users of a consumer good." -wiki
1 dollar ~ .7499 euros
or
1 euro ~ 1.3336 dollars
You might have to pay a little extra exchange rate charge if paying by credit/debit card. I made a purchase online from a UK site and ended up paying about 3-4 dollars extra for the charge. It still was a good deal on the game (which was just a steam code for the game) that it was worth it (apparently steam wasn't offering such a deal as this site was).
