Forums - Sony - GameStop Vita Memory Cards prices...

Plus you can't really store Vita games on the memory cards, the most the cheapest one can hold is one or two full games and little extra content such as photos, movies, and music. SD cards are better period.

So Vita with 3G $299 + a game about $49 + memory $119 = $467!!!
And I still don't understand, this memory only for installing a game or we can save music, pic, and video file in this memory to?

You don't have the buy the 32gig memory card. Most people will be fine with the 4gig.

The cards are for everything from game saves, game downloads, demos, music, movies...etc

If its for game saves, demos, music, and movies, etc........4 gb isn't a lot at all. You either gotta tediously make room when you want something new or you gotta put down money for another card.

Core fans though aren't in the "most" people category, they will want the high end memory. And since the core gamers are responsible for most Sony IP sales, you just found a way to alienate your most dedicated fanbase.

Yeah this.. I wonder why people are saying 4gb is enough... having an 16GB iPad isn't even enough for me.. some DL games are 600MB ~ 1GB, like crimson gem saga, gta: china town wars... I expect Vita games to be better and bigger than the games in the Appstore..

No biggie. I will buy a 4 GB to start with and wait for the prices to drop just like with the PSP. Those memory sticks were ridiculously priced too but now they are dirt cheap.

The one difference is that the PSP cards were also used in Sony cameras and Sony phones, before they moved those to SD and microSD, so the price won't be falling as much, as there is no competition

People come up with excuses to justify the price...

8 gig San disk memory cards for PSP were 40 euro when I was buying mine 3 years ago so they never were that cheap.

Funny thing in those 3 years I haven't deleted anything bare a few demos from it and it still has 1,5 GB left :D

They didnt so that they could price the Vita at 249$. Exactly like Microsoft did with their HDD. Smart move, that strategy works better then selling the console at a more expensive price point, the mass consumers proved that...

To everyone, is it really proved that some games requires a memory card in order to play them?

Some games do require the cards.  For example, the flagship game, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, will require a card. Link

I already knew that source. By confirmation I meant a source by Sony or a first party dev, not a claim by a media outlet. They dont even state the person they talked with.

I think the guy's name is Yoshida or something. He works for Sony and has confirmed that Uncharted will require a memory card to play it.

I will try to find a link if I can.

Edit:

Here it is.

I remember when I bought a 512mb MS Duo (which worked with PSP, though this was my camera) for £40, and I thought I was getting a good deal!

The things is, we all know how cheap memory is nowadays, so this is very annoying!

Well they probably use 30-40$ per card sold to cover loses on PSV ;)

If you want movies etc then it was obvious since the first day that you would need a memory card. However for just games 4GB is more than enough since most games are going to use the cartridge itself for game saves.
