Forums - Gaming - Skyrim Issues? Duh, of course, but has the smoking gun finally been found?

wow this is the only website i've seen where so many people claim that the game is straight up broken.
i got it on 360, AND i have it installed no issues.. maybe im just lucky
other then the UI i have heard nothing about the PC version that was bad. and mods fix that up.

From what I was reading, I hear that the PC port is actually the worst when it comes to glitches/bugs.

What you read must have been wrong or you didnt read it in the right context. Any links to what you were reading? Because based on my personal experiences and from other pc players (real life friends, generally on the forums, reviews and people here on vgchartz) it is farely bug/glitch free.

The main issues with the pc version is mouse lag and vsync enabled with no option to disable it. I find the mouse issue can be easily relieved with changing the sensitivity, the vsync issue can be solved by tweaking the .ini file. Most severe pc issues only occur after the .ini file is tweaked or changed. Like disabling vsync could cause the entire day/nigh time cycle to be completely out of sync which could be game breaking. Some other .ini tweaks has also been known to break physics. Both issues are more down to personal preference than actual bugs or glitches though, and then its up to the player if he feels its worth tweaking the .ini file. Currently i have my .ini file untweaked and i have zero issues. Yeah maybe im the lucky one but i doubt it.

If you were talking about actual in game bugs and glitches like a flying horse or random shit like that, then apart from the odd glitch here and there, i hardly noticed anything like that. For an open world game i find it to be actualy positively bug free.

I suspect (i could be wrong here) that you were reading about severe pc issues that have occured after the .ini file has been tweaked, in which case its not really the developers fault. Not to forget you will always find people on forums talking about pc issues, this is obvious as every pc setup is different, and most of the time issues are because of different personal setups.

Simply because the game is so complex that you'd need several thousand if not ten thousand people to test it to find all the bugs.

You can't be serious.

Yes he can be serious.

go play the game before you say stuff like that, this isn't Zelda or Uncharted or Gears, its a massive game.

Several thousand testers is completely absurd.

There is no reason to have that many testers. The game is massive and way more complex than the games you mentioned but that amount of dedicated professional testers is completely crazy.

Edit: aaah i seem to have jumped the gun Barozi was just trying to make a point my bad

Well of course they could work longer on the game and they could hire more people to fix the bugs or test the game, but that would result in even longer development times (they already have a 3 year schedule on avarage, that's long enough). But that would also mean much more costs AND less revenue.
And even then there would still be bugs that simply cannot be found by a few ten thousand playthroughs.

But I find it funny that an in your opinion "unfinished" (which game is 100% bug free from the start ?) product from the same "supposedly great developer" becomes GOTY 2006 (Oblivion), GOTY 2008 (Fallout 3) and most likely GOTY 2011.
http://gotypicks.blogspot.com/2010/10/2010-game-of-year.html

I saw a quote from the Zelda dev team this week, they were talking about how they could have shipped the game last year but it would have felt incomplete. I'm not trying to compare the two games but the devs behind them, the fact is the developers of skyrim did a half-assed job at polishing and debugging there game. You may think the scale of the game justifies this but I don't buy that excuse. It's part of there job, they failed at it, that's all I'm saying.

Do you honestly believe that the scale of the game justifies what's happening to the gamers who bought the PS3 version of the game and can't play it due to one of the more severe bugs? Seriously?

...I already said before that reviewer praise these games despite having many many bugs, what are you trying to prove by that last paragraph?

My response to this is 'quality over quantity'. I've seen the so so combat, the meh interface and presentation, and most of all the staggering amount bugs. The game may be huge, but if it suffers for it it's not worth it imo

By the way, I'm not saying it's a bad game (I haven't played it yet so I can't judge yet) but from what I've seen and heard, it's clearly got massive problems (look at the OP for instance)

You dont need thousands of QA testers (not even dozens) to detect the framerate issue. Its not just a specific quest bugging in specific conditions. They probably even knew before QA testing...

I'd also like to add that testing/quality assurance is not as time/resource consuming as you seem to think, ten thousand testers is just ridiculous. If testing/debugging was actually amung their priorities, they would have been able to do it properly, it clearly wasn't

I've tested software and created games from scratch before so I know a bit about what it's like

What I don't understand is why you find it so acceptable for a game to have bugs like the one in the OP. Not only that, but you insist that the devs are justified in letting game breaking bugs like these ship with there game. Are you guys even listening to you'er actually saying?

To be serious anyone who has a 6mb file already must be doing nothing, but playing the game. If you play a game that much you must love it. I have played +20 hours and my file is not even at 1 mb and I have seen no were near a game breaking glitch.

I will admit it is not perfect, but Bethesda has truly made a masterpiece. For all those that the game is unplayable that sucks, but for most it is just fine.

If I remember well the save file start at about 3 mb ?!? I was at 6mb at around the 30 hours mark.

Lmao, I just checked I am at anout exactly 6mb. Crossing my fingers I will not have a problem. My maths was off, woops. Did not read your posts, but  is the game unplayable?
