Forums - Gaming - Skyrim Issues? Duh, of course, but has the smoking gun finally been found?

Wow, I'm glad I'm not one of those stuck with a PS3 version. I'd never be able to handle that kind of brokiness no matter how great the game is.

I've played the PC version for about 60 hours and at first the bugs didn't annoy me much. I had a few cases with disappearing textures and CTD's but I could handle it. But now it's starting to annoy me. The third quest given by Arniel were you have to heat up the warped soul broke, and I had to manually set the quest variables to be able to finih it...I also had to restart after finishing Arniel's fourth quest because I never got the Keening (?).
When I played earlier today I was out in the wild picking flowers when a bounty hunter suddenly appeared and said he was after me because of crimes I had comitted in the Falkreath hold. I haven't been there yet! And the bounty was 0 gold. >_> So I payed him zero gold and then he started attacking me, he and his buddy who flew around in circles with his superhorse, 20 feet above my head. Had to reload, and the bounty hunter appeared again but this time he didn't attack me after getting his 0 gold. Now I'm kinda scared to go to Falkreath because of all the imaginary crimes they might accuse me of...

Now I can take a few texture failures, some CTD's and even getting stuck in a rock now and then while being chased by two giants and their pet mammuts. But enough is enough. Bugs that breaks the game are unacceptable. I should not have to manually set game variables to be able to finish quests.

I really like this game and that's why it's so sad that there is so much to complain about that really shouldn't be there. Take away all the BS and you have a masterpiece. Skyrim is a gem, but as it is now it's a flawed one.

I'm stuck with the ps3 version but even before it started acting up it was clear that the game is very rough around the edges. For starters the interface took about 30 hours to get used to. NPC interactions are all very mediocre, repeating the same lines, talking over eachother, and saying things out of order. Pathing is plain weird and followers keep getting in the way. In the beginning you don't mind since there is so much to discover and at first you kinda laugh at all the glitches, hearing the same voices in each town and seeing the exact same interiors.

But now after restarting it starts to get really annoying. Wait for them to shuffle into place and start reciting their lines without any emotion. Then they repeat their standard line again after you just talked to them, and they keep repeating it every time you come near. Makes me miss the dialogue options and banter between characters from Dragon age: Origins.

I have had plenty of glitches with guards too, not letting me surrender and running away not resetting the enemies are near flag, all for 40 gold bounty. Just today I was busy fighting a dragon with a new character, the courier runs up, the game turns me around and makes me listen to the courier while the dragon is killing me, ffs. Can't even cancel the delivery, just stand there and die.

A beautiful world to explore, but after the addiction wears off there turns out to be quite a rough game underneath. I should not have waited to do the main quest, now I'm struggling to keep interest to finish the story. (Well ps3 version is to blame for that too, since my 14mb lvl 53 char has a half-life of 15 minutes before the system freezes)

I'm simply not going into the skills menu, the game doesn't force you to level up.

My skills still go up, but magicka, health and stamina are still at a hundred and no perks ofcourse.

I just tested to see how far I would be by going in the skills menu, lvl 12 actually.

Ah I see. But at what level difficulty are you playing? Because I just don't see anyone surviving at that level on difficulties such as Expert or Master. Heck a single Falmer arrow will take almost all your Health, even if you do manage to find some good Dwarven pieces laying about (assuming you're playing a heavy armour character). Blackreach would be hell to play at Expert Level 1.

Whatever the default difficulty level is. The game scales according to your level inside dungeons. Inside my lvl 1 char is more capable dealing with Draugr death lords then my lvl 53 :/ Outside I had my followers clean up everything for me :) And when they're not around you can usually trick the dumb AI pathing to get stuck on the terrain somewhere. I took a frost troll down with 30 arrows simply standing in a narrow door way, it just takes a while. A dumb blood dragon couldn't deal with a hill, just sat there taking arrows and spewing fire over my head. I kept unloading arrows into a wingtip until he died.

Running away usually works too. Light armor and you can outrun anything while they think about how to get over a little ledge.

Edit: Nm, I wasn't actually all the way into Blackreach yet. The falmer just started to kick my ass in Alftand Cathedral and in Blackreach each hit practically takes away 90% of my measely 100 health. Alftand was a lot of running backwards, using potions and dying, now I'm out of potions in Blackreach, end of the line for lvl 1.

My level 4, Heavy Armour Weaponmaster character can also outrun pretty much anything, thanks to the Steed Stone (Well at least until he gets Conditioning). But I see, you have some good strategies, unfortunately I haven't yet encountered a Dragon that gets stuck on terrain, and even most enemies can overcome doorways and whatnot (except for large frame enemies such as Giant Frostbite Spiders). Probably just lack of luck, but my Assassin character had a bit of an extremely rough patch on Master until I hit level 10 with him (that's when I got the 3x Sneak attack Bow damage and 15x Sneak attack dagger damage).

The Falmer are pretty damn annoying, especially at high levels when Gloomlurkers and Shadowlurkers start appearing in droves. With the no resistance bug it's worse than fighting mages >_> (thank the mods for the SKSE that allowed the restoration of resistances).

Just curious, but now since my Argonian Werewolf has no disease resistance, can he become a Vampiric Werewolf Argonian?

Nope and likewise the other way around you can't become werewolf while being vampire.

On Patch 1.2 it is possible. Werewolves have no immunity to disease anymore, because there are no resistances whatsoever. So he can become a Vampiric werewolf argonian. Though that'd making a Vampiric Werelizard

Awesome! I am so becoming a Werelizpire when I get home!

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Well patch 1.3 is out for Steam and will be hitting XBL/PSN in a bit hopefully by the end of the day.

Yeah, my version auto-patched and I didn't even knew a patch was coming today >_>.

I just hope that it doesn't screw up my mods

any word yet on the 1.3 being released to the 360 and PS3...I would have thought it would have uploaded by now.

hate to revive this thread, but version 1.03 is now out on the PS3. Crossing my fingers for less lag. Will report any changes I notice.

Glad to have my resistances back.

Is the game fixed for the PS3, I want to buy it but I want the full experience.
