Like if someone (casual buyer INDEED!!!!) that buys the Wii 5 year after it release is going to pay attention of this: "Oh no i better not buy it, i cannot play Mario Dance Mix on it!"

Give me a break!!!

I think the offical $100 price tag is for people looking for a brand new wii instead of a pre-owned one. Also I don't think people knew (or care) that the Gamecube functionality is out.

It was the main reason for me to buy a Wii, guess I better pick one up soon then.

You mean the price tag, right?

That too.

The Gamecube slots are for me one of the great thing that the Wii had. The GC pad was simply great and I use it in all games where I had rather play with a classic pad like Mario Kart and Smash bros.

B/C is not a want at this point, anyone who was looking for that has a Wii by now, or is looking to the next gen. The biggest concern I think most people would have is price and bundled games, I know I am..... that said I do have a GameCube so B/C was never a big deal.

The loss of GC backwards compatibility isn't as big as no WiFi included... now you actually have to buy the official Nintendo USB adapter if you want to connect to the internet, and it takes away the convenience of being able to put your Wii anywhere in your house and still connect to the internet.

I didnt realize that the new Wii doesnt have any Internet capability. That is pretty limiting.

Actually I stand corrected... there were a couple of articles over the summer that said the upcoming Wii redesigns were allegedly going to drop the built-in WiFi in addition to the Gamecube b/c, but upon further research I haven't been able to confirm if this is actually the case, as no websites or product listings say that the Wii no longer has WiFi, only that they've eliminated GC b/c and that it no longer comes with a stand as the system lays flat.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

only people who had the GC care about GC BC and thats 24m! Wii is at 89+m so anyone who had the GC and still care about Nintendo would most likely own the old Wii model by now

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(
