The source has already said that VGChartz has tracked the PS3 as being 1.2M+ for the period. Sony claims the PS3 has sold 1.2M+ for the period.
Whats the damned problem?

The news is clear about "sold to customers " and about "customers joining the PS familiy " .Still ,it could be somewhat wrong .Adding some polish to some numbers (it actually being 1.1 million for example ) ,playing with weeks to make it look the better possible .

We will see when NPD releases its data .But last month when NPD released its data the PS3 had been undertracked and correct me if I am wrong but nothing was changed here .

In any case it looks like the PS3 is definitely in the race even in NA ,its weakest territory till now .

And also should remove 4 days sales, because it since 23th November, not 19th novemebt. So that is additional 50-70k less for every console.

I claim that is false they have not shipped but SOLD 1.2M+ and ps3 is being undertracked by over 300k.

You know why we trust that Nintendo's shipped = sold(or is very near)? BECAUSE THEIR SYSTEMS SELL THE SECOND A CUSTOMER SEES THEM!

Got it? It's not hard to figure out. The PS3 doesn't exactly fly off the shelves, the Wii & DS do. Also, I don't see anyone heralding Microsoft's shipped reports as the gospel.

If Sony says that have sold ANYTHING to consumers, they're lying. They only give out shipped numbers, this has been said time, and time, and time, and time, AND TIME, AND TIME, and time, and time, and time, AND TIME again.

Ok... here's the deal: The chain of product is: Number of items produced at the factory - number of items shipped/in transit - number of items accounted/stored in own warehouse - number of items sold into distributor's warehouses/shops.

If a company bighead talks about "sell through", it is usually the chain above, so  when the Sony guy said 1.2M  units sell-through, it means that 1.2M units went through the chain and are now at the distributors facilities . How many of those sell-through items were actually sold to the public is the distributor's problem, not Sony's..
