Rol's last post pretty much sums it up. Also, no offense but have you looked at the OP? Nintendo revised their fiscal year projection. They only expect to ship another 3.4 million DS's between October and March.

The DS only outshipped the PS2 by 40k in the previous quarter, there is a pretty good chance the PS2 might be ahead when Sony announces their numbers for Q2.  The PS2 was ahead by 4.54 million at the end of Q1 after removing the double counting from the switch in reporting methods.

8.9 million in 2008
7 million in 2009
6.9 million in 2010
2.6 million in the first half of 2011

But it won't manage another 5 million lifetime?  Will probably do at least half of that during the rest of the year.  If anything, it seems like Nintendo is going to kill off the DS before Sony kills the PS2.  They cut their forecast by 46% and only expect to ship another 3.42 million in the next 6 months.

Honestly thier reuslts aren't as bads as I thought they would be. But, they really need to turn things around. I also think Wii will end up being adjusted down again as well as 3DS software.

I really am quite curious about when this will happen. Sony have stated that as long as there's some demand for it they won't stop producing the PS2. Could we be looking at an NES-like situation where it's still getting produced in limited quantities for almost 20 years? DS... well its current situation makes it rather hard to predict. Nintendo might kill it off next year or they could keep it around for a couple years. Sales are declining so extraordinarily fast though. Even early this year I wouldn't have predicted it would slow down this quickly.
