Excellent point. We should also remember that it's hard to compare prices. Our European friends pay VAT on purchases all year and don't have income taxes sucked from their paychecks, so we should keep that fact in mind.

Now with the dollar falling even further against the pound and euro, they can't hold that extreme pricepoint they had at launch. GBP 390 is still nearly $800! I dont think US or Euro will see a price drop anytime soon. |
Totally...at the moment, the general public can get $1.95 to the £pound. The current RRP in the UK is £425 (which includes VAT at 17.5%) which means that the PS3 is £361 excluding VAT. The US price is $599 not including TAX.
£361 converted into dollars is $704 compared to the US price of $599...so why don't they drop the UK price by $100 to be comparable.
If we were to pay the US $ price along with VAT on top we would be getting charged: £360 for the console which is a whopping £65 off the RRP.
And I have been working out the exchange rate based on the GP rate, not the bank conversion rate that is over £2.00 to the £pound.
Get a grip Sony.
