Well if you keep up with Seeces Year Over Year Holidays Sales Tracker thread, you would see that 360 is actually holding weekly sales almost exactly on par to last year. Ever Novemember there is a CoD game, and MP games do help 360 more during the holidays then PS3. Even if Kinect isn't as big as last year, I think the 360 will have a strong Novemeber. PS3 will be strong too, but Novemeber is when Americas region sales start to inflate, and 360 is king in Americas by a long shot.

ok so we have COD for MS, FFXIII-2 for PS3, BF3 even with the 1943 game and BF special edition console only on PS3; 360 has BF3, Sony has UC3 and bundle, Sony has 2 bundles for black friday, MS has the Sky Rim bundle, Sony has an RPG bundled console i have no idea wht the name is for Japan and the EMEAA i think, PS3 has 4 different colored consoles for the EMEAA and Japan, and a pricecut made just a few months ago that could help carry it through Nov.-Dec.

Sony has pulled out all the stops and it still looks damn even to me! COD doesn't come out the same wk UC3 does i think so PS3 will have that wk and PS3 should have the first wk of Nov. aswell.

i can give 360 the 2 following wks unless one of those wks have FFXIII-2 in it then its farely even. then black friday is anybodies guess. then the final wk of Nov. should see things balance out before Vita hogs the spotlight in Japan and Dec. becomes a quite memory with bg sells for both consoles for christmas presents and most of Jan. holds PS3 as the eading consoe until ME3 comes out then the 360 takes the next 2 wks and likely half of Feb. until the 14th when Twisted Metal comes out. then the wk after that on the 22 PSVita comes out in the states and it flys off shelves and then by the end of March Sony continues its trend of out selling the 360, gets a boost in America from that same JRPG i still can't remember the name of in the Americas and the EMEAA and then PS3 continues to out sell the 360 till E3 as the big3 make there announcements and we all get together and do this again next yr during the holiday season and someone gets proven wrong, right or what ever.

i guess histroy will repeat its self. Sony shuld announce a new slim modle PS3 and maybe a pricecut to continue to stay competitive againts the 360, but PS360 will do bad next yr with Wiiu coming out! isn't that what we all expect to happen?

I know PS3 outsells in the combined EMEAA and Japan region, but you are ignoring half the gaming world in that comparision. My point by saying 360 is outselling PS3 in the combined Americas and EMEAA is to show you that PS3 will never rapidly reduce the lead. The lead 360 has will only be chipped away at slowly thanks to Japan, that's my point.

both sides are so busy saying what will and won't happen they don't see the fire underneath where they sit.

ok look at it this way. the only 2 exclusive heavy hitters coming out next yr as of today that i knoow of are Halo4 and Twisted Metal. 

TM is nowhere as big as Halo but out of all 10 of the PS3 titles i know about this is the only one that has brand recognition. the Last Guardian will likely sell 1m units or more before the yr is out but it will not carry th PS3 through Nov.-Dec. and it can't compet with Halo or COD, but with 7 of those 10 yet to be annouced and lots of unknown factors next yr is a toughone to call.

I agree with you anything can happen. I'm just being realistic and basing this off what I see. PS3 can surpass 360 in WW sales, but if it does, it won't happen for a while.

i've already prjected it to happen in 2014 if sells continue on there current path, meaning even if sells drop WW for both consoles PS3 would only have to sell 1m+ units more then the 360 until 2014. how likely is that to happen? well considering many are looikg at history in this thread then hell shoudn't the PS3 continue to out sell the 360 by 1m units every yr?

i still look at MS discontinuing the 360 in 2013 but i can see it may not happen then, but they will want to focus on NB so like the Wii and PS2 before it the 360 looks to be abandoned by MS. all current features will stay and anything new the NB gets including downloadable games i can see the 360 getting aswell but MS will likely want to move on and make the NB be the platform for there base as they look to win next gen which is a very likely thing to happen IMO.

If shipments figures for PS3 are the same last year (3.2m) then the shipped gap is 2 million... but I expect more this year... so maybe 3.5m putting the shipped gap below 2 million .

Why does history have to repeat itself? Well for the first 8 months the trends set by the last few years have been true, why would it stop? Japanese sales tend to be strongest in July (Golden Week), September (Holidays) and DecemberJanuary (Usually a strong release). EMEAA is strong all year round, with a decent boost in the holidays. However Americas explodes in the holidays. 360 will gain significant sales WW in Novemeber/December just because in Americas 360 nearly outsells PS3 2:1 and in November Americas literally becomes more then half the worlds sales.

interesting to some i'd say but history is a vast empty space as is the future an enigma i won't lnow till is happens so lets wait and see: but we both agree MS won't win 2011 yr end. i see Sont having a stronger Nov. the ever before and maybe one or 2 wks in the month and a very stronge black friday to rival MS but because of what you just said MS might have the rest of Nov, but only by a small margine

Bundles only boost sales for a single week, and by 100k max (since most are limited to 100k). Both PS3 and 360 also have an even number of good bundles. agreed but it seems Sony still has more going on that can give them Nov. and have them cost through Dec. as i've said many times before never underestimate the big3, but now i'm saying it for consumers? don't underestimate the potential of the PS3 price drop to appeal to more people including the casual's that bought the Wii at that same price in droves.

MW3 and UC3 are different types of games. Only way they can hurt each other is by fighting over media space. However after the PSN Outage, I think MW3 for PS3 won't impact UC3 sales much. you know even as a Sony fan i'm not to sure about that, although i've projected UC3 to sell 1m first wk WW. if not 800k

Is the JRPG you are thinking of "Tales of Xillia"? For your long distant future calculation, you forgot that Mass Effect 3 and Future Soldier come out the same week at the end of March, and both have Kinect support, and are franchises which are significantly more popular on 360 then PS3.

nope i've not forgotten this fact and i mentioned ME3 in my long winded statement and its potential. i have no idea wht date either is coming out just the month, and if they are coming out at the end of March. then MS may see a nice boost for 2 wks, and Kinects functionality won't bring in the hardcore. Sony always has higher sells in March then MS so will history repeat its self? it doesn't have to and thats my point.

Anyway, It's nice that you have thought about future sales on a weekly depth basis for the next 6 months. You know what to expect from the market, and although I disagree, I respect your opinion. I think 360 leading sales for the HD consoles WW almost every week after BF3 comes out. The only weeks I think PS3 will outsell 360 are UC3 week and FFXIII-2 week in Japan (December something). After christmas, 360 will likely crash. Not as hard as last year because MS will be able to supply the demand this time, but PS3 should go back to WW leading by FFXIII-2's release outside of Japan. After that I can only say that ME3 week 360 has a chance of topping PS3 WW, and after March 2012, I don't really know what's coming out. The only major AAA exclusive announced so far is Halo 4, so....

you know i can agree with this, but for me it is still to close to call. thats what makes next gen so interesting to me. its still coming to early for my taste but man; all of this may or may not happen next gen but i'm looking way to far in the future so i'll stop here.

I don;t think PS360 will do bad next year with Wii U coming out because most Wii U games will just be upscaled PS360 games. Wii U will get a lot of attention, but I think PS3/360 will each top 10 million in 2012. Sony will have 1 major franchise exclusive, and MS already has a proper Halo sequel.

Sony is an enigma to me concerning the 2012 yr. i have no idea what big franchise they could possibly have. as far as move goes. sorcery its most anticipated game and will likely create a sells boost for move and PS3 along with the Last Guardian which i'm going to die amillion times playing cause its such an ingaging  story. by i'm going to enjoy dieing and coming back to life so i can continue to play this game.

I didn't ignore half the market. You are missing my point with that excluding Japan comment. Obviously PS3 is doing better WW then 360, I am just saying it's limited by Japan, and we shouldn't expect the PS3 gap to shrink any more then Japanese PS3 sales.

Twisted Metal is not a heavy hitter. A typical TM game sells 1 million units each, and the franchise is a reboot at this stage. Also, coming from a TM fan (own all of them except Head On), I don't think the new one will be all that inspiring for old fans, or new ones alike.

its thebiggest name annouced for the PS3 so farso its the biggest ip they have coming out in 2012 until they annouce other wise. thats why i mentioned it.

2014 is a respectable prediction. If it happens, I think 2014/2015 is the year. I personally don't think it will happen. I think the net growth PS3 has over 360 this year will be 500k (meaning it will shrink from 1 mil to 500k in the next 2.5 months), and I don't think either console will sell that different. Who knows 360 may even come ontop one more year.

As for 360 being discontinued. There is no evidence to support this claim. MS supported their XB1 longer then Sony supported the PS2 (XBL was up until last year for XB1 systems, the PS Network adaptor for PS2 was taken down much earlier). If it generates cash, and the PS3/Wii are still on the market, MS has no reason to discontinue the 360. It just makes them look bad.

while there is not one lick of evidence you'd have to be thinking pretty big to think 360 will be discontinued. its called marketing! ever MS fan should expect this and i'm sure would except it if it did happen! Sony is about future proof tech so Ps3 will not be discontinued. MS wants to be market leader next gen, so as a marketing major i'd want to discontinue the 360 to market nextbox as the core and onad only home console worth having.

i would also say while we are discontinuing the 360. live support will still be there as long as theres a market for it on the 360.

so my take is all 360 games will be downloadable as MS discontinues 360 manufacturing. thats allot of speculation for me but its 1 of several marketing strategies i think would help MS next gen.

As for GT5 bundle, I disagree here. GT3 was the only mass bundled GT game. GT PSP was never bundled despite it's weak sales in 2011 outside of Japan, and GT4 never saw bundling either despite the age of PS2 at the end.

next yr will be its first bundle, so whats your point here? i'm not talking about over bundling. i'm talking about one bundle for the 2012 holiday season.

Anything can happen in the future, I can only make predictions off opinions and trends, and the most important thing is we both respect each others opinion, and we have intellectual backing to it. I disagree with you on PS3 having it's strongest November ever. Even with the price cut, PS3 sales are trailing 2010 figures, and the gap is growing bigger. MW3 might be the biggest CoD open, but on PS3 it won't be much different then Black Ops (look at those pre-order threads by VGC, MW3 is 3 weeks ahead of pre-orders on 360, but on PS3 it's almost on par with BO). Uncharted 3 will be big, but GT5 was bigger last year, and well I don't see any reason for why you think 2011 will be bigger then 2010 for PS3. It will be a strong year, but what power PS3 has in Americas is starting to weaken already, and November sales are heavily influenced by Americas sales.

I won't underestimate the PS3 with price cut if you don't underestimate a potential Kinect price cut, or already announced Kinect bundles (Kinect-360 for $300!). I think this will also appeal to the more casual audience.

I'm an Uncharted fan too. It's a different fanbase then MW3. Heck Halo is a different fanbase then MW3.

I hope ME3 boosts 360 sales. So far it's looking to be the biggest game of the franchise, and this is my favorite IP this gen.

Next gen is comming too early for you? Games are already stagnating, and both the PS3 and 360 are showing their limitations. I mean look at all the big games of 2011. MW3, UC3, Gears 3, Forza 4, InFamous 2, Killzone 3, LBP 2, Elder Scrolls V, Battlefield 3 (this is new to console this gen to be fair though), Halo: CEA, FFXIII-2, Dark Souls, Crysis 2, Portal 2, Dead Space 2, Zelda 12?, Batman 2, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario Land 3, Assassin's Creed 2.5-II, Pokemon 5, Zelda remake, starfox remake, Catherine, Deus Ex, Dead Island, and that's all I can think of. 20 sequels, 1 remake, 2 ports, and 3 new IP's.

I think exclusive software for 2012 will be minimal on both the PS3/360. MS, Sony, and Ninty have to start focusing on new consoles. They will only do the minimum to please current owners. 1 big game is all I expect from each manufacturer, and MS already announced Halo.

i still count 10 PS3 exclusives from Sony and 4 projects that are said to be worked on for a projected release of yr end 2012. and if that happens then Sonys lineup will look in number of last yr where they had 13 exclusives i think.

I think Last Guardian will be bigger then Twisted Metal, but they will both sell about the same. 1-2 million is my prediction, which will be sad for Last Guardian (judging from prior games, it deserves better).

As for Ms discontinuing 360, I don't see it happening. They supported XB1 to the very end, and supported XBL on X-Box well into the 360 years. Even now, new 360's are still fully backward compatible. I can't say the same for Sony or Nintendo.

ok i'll give you Nintendo but you know why Sony took out BC so don't go there. MS new one thing this gen and thats that they had to bring it and they brought everything with them except windows to 360 and 90% of there ip, but the os they do have works perfect on 360.

but if they want nextbox to be more current they should upgrade every nextbox when they make a new windows os but also make it optional.

I don't think GT5 will be bundled with the console at all. Only retailers will make store bundles, so I don't expect GT5 sales to jump. GT5 is outdated, and bundling it could hurt Sony's image. Weather or not you agree, Forza 4 is a better game, and bundling GT5 could very well hurt the PS3's image.

look i was speaking from the perspective of what i saw and heard along with asking questions cause the 2 games in question i have yet to play. i want both, and will get both, but from the perspective of a friend who just recently bouhgt Forza4; his opinion is that GT5 is miles ahead of Forza4 eventhough Forza looks better. he said something about forza having stupid AI?

srry but mod nation racers is the only racing game i'll have for some time, and is allot more fun then GT5 and forza4.

I think Sony would rather bundle UC3 for 2012. It's newer, unique to the PS3, and I think it's more of a system seller.
