Forums - Sony - The expensive new Sony memory is not optional after all

I'm honestly just upset because it was SONY themselves that originally stated the carts will have space reserved for future updates, dlc and saves. Having my memcard specifically for multimedia sounded awesome to me.

I'm just a little cheesed by this but i'll probably get like a 32GB chip and a 4GB down the line for strictly for saves when they're cheap.

Why are people complaining, Are the cards that expensive( To lazy to research)

They are pretty expensive, somewhat disappointed in this news. Namely if Uncharted will use it, as that was going to be a first game. I guess I will try and hold off my purchase of a month, until I can get cheap cards used.

Really? Since when memory cards became so expensive?

Anyways all games should allow you to save on the gamecart itself. This news sounds weird because this would be the first time a system uses gamecarts but still needs an extra memcard to simply save your game.

EDIT: You know come to think of it, this is first time sony will be using carts for games

They aren't SD cards, if that was the true, I wouldn't have been worried, since I have many around the house. It is Sony's unique cards, I don't even think they are the ones you could have used on the PSP.

If it's required, it should be included imo

yeah like Nintendo did with 3DS

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

it's annoying, because they're using their own propriety cards.

But, you were supposed to be able to play games without it.

Not going to buy this initially. Probably wasn't going to before this, and am not going to now since I'm trying to pay for school.

You should put rumor in the title.

At the very least regarding Uncharted this is not a rumor... Source -

That twitter account isn't verified. I wouldn't take anything he says too seriously.

what i wonder is how much space each game is gonna take, what's the point of buying a 4 gb card if all the saves of uncharted take like 2 gb

No game save takes 2 gigs of space.

Wow. Worst part is you have to buy one of those horribly overpriced memory cards. Is sony just being greedy or are they trying to cut down on piracy? How will I move my movies and music to it? Does it have an sd card slot? If yes, then why not allow us to use that? Is sony being greedy or are they trying to cut down on piracy?

They're trying to offer an affordable handheld. Not to different from Microsofts strategy with the Xbox 360. Remember the HDDs needed to be bought seperately.

To answer your question, no it doesn't have an SD Card slot.(don't quote me on this though)

Fortunately, Vita is optional.

No, its not. Vita games only play on Vita. You can't play them on your PSP/PS3 or DS/3DS.

Well they could have easily kept using the Memory Sticks that the PSP used.......but you can blame hackers for screwing that up.

Most Vita games are on at least one of those platforms, so you're wrong.
