Ocarina, well, I guess I just don't have the nostalgia factor, I got it in the virtual console and it wasn't as good as I expected.

Prime games were boring, I guess I could say I have something against FPS.

SMG was great, I said I liked it a lot, but it didn't have a long lasting impact.

Well NO GAME from 13 years ago will be what you expect it to be. Go play Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2/3, Silent Hill etc etc.

The Prime games were FP ADVENTURE games. They didn't control like FP SHOOTERS, nor was the emphasis on headshots or sniping or anything. I find it crazy that you would be put off by looking out of a characters eyes - even though this is arguably more immersive than 3rd person. And if you say its boring then its cause you probably couldn't solve the puzzles or got confused by the maps. It was the most immersive and atmospheric game I ever experienced. You were either too young, or not interested in a deep experience.

Yes, SMG is great.

SNES games aged superbly and look and play as smooth as recent games. I just didn't find it so amazing, as I said, it may be the nostalgia factor I don't have.

I didn't like the First Person view, that is my opinion, not because I couldn't solve a puzzle, I do not like First Person games.

Yes, SMG is great. But (IN MY OPINION) it is not the game or platformer of the generation, that was my point


Have you played many SNES games recently?  I play mine every now and then and while I love it for nostalgie, many SNES games did not control beautifully.  Even a lot of the good games didn't control that well.

It's pretty easy to look through games we have fond memories of through rose colored glasses but most of those classic games have some pretty big programs with them.

The whole Uncharted Series is wayyyyy over rated...its such a lame game....

Pretty much this. Reviews are a opinions on a game. Sometimes a broken game with get a great review because it plays to what the reviewer likes. There are games that most people like and I can't stand. There are also games I love that most people hate. I won't way which games are over rated, but I'll list some games that were rated high which I felt differently about.

Gears of War 1 - I thought this game was ok. But I only really played through this game because of the hype. I found a little enjoyment playing it co-op. But playing this game alone was a chore.

COD MW2 - I agree this game was a total nightmare. There was no ryme or reason to the story and the level layout was kind of boring.

F.E.A.R. - I love survival horror (I even liked Silent Hill 4 and Homecoming) and I enjoy some FPS, but this game was so boring that I had to put down the controler after 3 hours and go back to Condemned.

Don't get me wrong, Halo is a GOOD series. Tight control, phenomenal soundtrack, above average story...but it's so bland. Basically it was Grand Theft Auto III with improved graphics and more annoying characters.

 

The bit I've highlighted  on Halo I really disagree with, especially on Halo Reach. With GTA IV, I might have argued with you about that but have recently rented the expansion pack and it is really bugging me. The characters aside, the dialogue is boring and quite tedious and in comparison to other third person games I play (Assassin's Creed, Gears of War) the gameplay and controls are horrific.

1. Red Dead Redemption - Bought this cause I got caught in the hype train, biggest mistake of my life. So boring, but it did make a great sleeping aid.

2. Oblivion - Just like RDR I got very sleepy playing this one, I guess that happens when you play crappy games. Why do all the NPCs sound the same? That sure didn't help.

3. Metal Gear Solid 4 - The cutscenes were too long, it felt like I was watching a movie...wait... Is this even a game?

4. Heavy Rain - Same as 3

5. Halo series - The whole franchise felt like the same thing over and over again, in every game...

6. Modern Warfare 2 - I thought this campaign was awful, I had to force myself to finish it. I'm usually a fan of CoD and FPS games in general but I just couldn't enjoy this game at all.

7. Fable series - Empty promises

8. Final Fantasy XIII - Worst RPG I ever played, incredibly linear and boring.

Oh wait. You were 6 years old when Metroid: Prime came out.

I rest my case.

Like he said he doesn't have the nostalgia. Some games don't hold up as well graphically and control wise as others, so if you didn't play it when it first came out you may have a hard time playing it for the first time now. N64 and PS1 games are largely victim to this. Heck even Mass Effect 1 though great when it came out almost feels unplayable now. Most of us put up with all of its issues when it was released, but after ME2 it feels like pulling teeth to play the combat portion of the first game.

GTAIV is certainly overrated. God of war series also is very overated especially the third one.

The story was weak, the bosses were poor, the sets were mostly caves and dull areas, too much backtracking, too short.

HWHAT?! Are you talking the original or the sequels? I loved the original back in 2005 but the sequels were rather poor IMO.


The original, but I played it on the 360 after playing Condemned and Bioshock. So, I'm not sure if it had something to do with the way it was ported or if the newer games I had played that had borrowed different aspects from FEAR and improved upon them corrupted my experience. All I know is that I was bored playing it, so I moved on.

Uncharted, Mario Galaxy series ,  Gears Of War ,  very very overrated
