not meaning to be pedantic but level one soldier does not exist, the only level charecteur is royalty (anyone starting with this class shame on you lol), all other starting charecteurs are level 4 or above

But I have seen a lot of "gamers" who act like its some kind of an achievement to play demon's souls or to like its difficulty. As time goes on gamers will be younger and younger, so obviously they will ask questions. |
It's more the fact that people are going to buy this game without really knowing what they're in for. They're going to charge at a group of 3 minion enemies thinking to despatch them without taking too much damage and wind up dead. It's no arrogance on the part of people who've played the game, it's knowing that people like the one who asked about multiple game saves are going to be surprised by what they find. Those people will either end up hating the game or loving it.
People who've merely even read forum threads about Demon's Souls and understood the nature of the game without every having played it will be going in with their eyes open. So it's nothing to do with having played DS. 360 / PC only gamers can prep themselves for Dark Souls easily enough without having to play Demon's Souls first.
Telling people who've never played Demon's Souls that it's easy is not very good prep. Because people who hear that it's easy mostly have the standard ARPG frame of reference for what's easy so it's not really all that helpful to tell people who've not experienced Demon's Souls that it's easy. Sure, it's easy when you know how to play it properly and you respect the game. But if you don't play it properly then you get your arse kicked.

Ah, yes! You're correct. I meant totally new and unleveled, but it's been a while since I played. A soldier starts at... 6?
|
Myself? I cleared 1-1 at my second try. Mainly because on the first one, I veered the wrong way and fought the red eye knight instead of the blue. Being a lowly level 1 soldier, he blitzed me. |
Sure. You also dress a blu-red costume with a red cape, you can fly, blow away mountains and see through things!! :D
Otherwise you must have started with a pure white world tendency online event. Some of us started with the pure black world tendency one. I couldn't believe that dark-red witch coming out from behind the corner in the building at the end of the first left passage where the gate was supposed to be closed (as I discovered much later).
Also I assume that as a soldier you used the short spear. That's the only way you could keep a distance with the soldier class. Let me guess: did you check any guide or worse, videos (!) before starting it? How did you know that fire was the best way to kill the first boss? Online suggestions? And the Thief's ring? Not a chance you could guess at the first try you had to jump on the Ostrava's platform AND you could make that jump.
@xen
with your logic, that you just have to play the game like you have to and then it's an easy game, every game would be easy and then you still have to compare the difficulty between the games and then demon's souls is like it's said, a damn hard game.
ok, some games are unfair but most games are easy if you play it perfect against every competitor.
so no, demon's souls isn't an easy game but yeah it's nice to have a game nowadays which doesn't let you save every time you see an enemy just to start at this point ever time you die.

I think you misunderstood but ok.
I was talking about the ones that go all like "lol noob, lol you suck at demon's souls, lolol!1!".
If someone were to complain about the difficulty or the lack of checkpoints, I have seen a lot of people go like this. I find it very similar to the behaviour of the XBL kids that play call of duty.

I never got the thief's ring on the first time. It's not needed for a soldier either way. Prior to actually starting out the game at 1-1, I gave the Knight, Wanderer, Royal, and Soldier a test run in training. I liked the soldier best thanks to the spear.
NIce attitute though. "I suck, so he MUST suck as well :D :D :D :D, anytyhing else is either checking stuff out on the internet or lies XD XD XD XD"
PWWT would've meant I'd met Miralda in the same place, though she'd be human and not BP. And there were no events the time I started. How did I know the best way to kill the first boss? I didn't. But I tried various crap, fire just seemed to work best. Nobody's forcing you to go online when you're playing either.
So take your bitchy, annoying, defeatist attitude somewhere else.
@everyone saying that I say that the game is easy: I never did? I said it's logical and challenging, but by no means is it as hard as the internet paints it. Gamers are just pampered with all the games these days being released with pathetic difficulty.
its hard but really its difficulty is greatly exaggerated. A million people including me were fine playing demon souls for the first time without having any preparation, and new xbox and pc players will just face a similar experience that we did. The game isn't plain old unfair such as the original contra or ninja gaiden black.
