Can't find any info on the Platinum Edition. Is this for Europe only?

Lol I remember seeing that B_E_L_I_E_V_E in about 50-60% of all users on this site during the majority of 2009. I found it amusing and slightly annoying

Oh...I thought they were being a little more generic with their wording. Personally, it seems to me that they are displaying too much confidence in Kinect performing exactly like it did last year. But, that isn't happening without a lot of interesting new IPs coupled with a price cut across the board.

Some of the best sigs on this site came from B_E_L_I_E_V_E, back then VGC was a troll fest. Lost a lot of users since then.

Yeap... Europe only... and it already sold out in some online stores in UK (released in 9th September).

They could have a variety of strategies in place, ready to escalate depending on sales trends. For example rather than cut price permenantly they could just offer insane deals that are the equivilent of a huge price cut to drive a big spike for holidays. They could chanel stuff a bit in addition (they all do at times so this isn't MS only and take this the right way, it's a way companies squeak sales forecasts at times an all electrical goods companies do it) and they could push another huge marketing blitz. Again, you can force sales with enough marketing and particularly in US that remains an option.
It's going to be interesting to watch unfold, that's for sure. I have no doubt Sony and Nintendo also have marketing/promotional plans to spike sales so it's going to be a hard fought end of year.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Price drop was too small to attack new untapped userbase.
Through without pricedrop it would be in 60-70k range during holidays.
