So you tell me.  What do they know that we don't, because I personally can't see anything OTHER THAN a price cut possibly doing that?  I'm a 360 fan, but c'mon. They could have a variety of strategies in place, ready to escalate depending on sales trends.  For example rather than cut price permenantly they could just offer insane deals that are the equivilent of a huge price cut to drive a big spike for holidays.  They could chanel stuff a bit in addition (they all do at times so this isn't MS only and take this the right way, it's a way companies squeak sales forecasts at times an all electrical goods companies do it) and they could push another huge marketing blitz.  Again, you can force sales with enough marketing and particularly in US that remains an option. It's going to be interesting to watch unfold, that's for sure.  I have no doubt Sony and Nintendo also have marketing/promotional plans to spike sales so it's going to be a hard fought end of year.

Yep, with another $500M marketing expenditure they should be able to easily sell another 6-8M Kinects (and all the consoles and SW it could drag) before needing to allocate hundreds million $ again for the purpose.

I think RRP for Platinum games is normally around £19.99 with a lot of online retailers chipping that down to £15 to £17.  That's been my impression anyway from the platinum titles I've bought.  I think I've seen some platinum titles at £25.99 as well.

Dude, look at the number of posts he has lol. I honestly don't know which way it goes this year because 360 and PS3 both have huge value for money. In the US it will depend on who appeals more to the casuals, or how good word of mouth is. In past years many people bought 360's because their friends had it, not necessarily because it was value for money (that is arguable of course for either side). Either way I hope all systems sell along with hardware as they have put some real effort into their consoles (yea I know, I didn't include the Wii for obvious reasons, unless Skyward Sword is at least as good as Majora's Mask).
