Microsoft says it will win this holiday- yes of course they will say that, confidence is a good thing to project.

There is a possibility Microsofts plan, (which was laid out some time ago) was to never cut the price this year and to still win the holiday sales. This is because last year Kinect launched, with the amount of focus/investment/advertising, they have to believe it will be able to propel them through another holiday season, and hopefully in 1st in WW sales.

I say with no price cut, they barely win America and get slaughtered WW. Newsflash, Kinect is not brand new! That ship has sailed imo. It will sell a ton but only because Microsoft will force it to.

However IF Microsoft does cut the price... then everything I just said goes out the window. They would kill PS3 in America and possibly EMEAA for a bit producing a big offset and actually come close to matching PS3 for Yearly sales; But the downside in that scenario for Microsoft is that it would deviate from its original model where Kinect was supposed to be a viable source of sales for 2 consecutive holiday seasons.

The reality of the situation is, without a price cut- their model is flawed.

I fully expect them to fall back on "We meant US only."  I mean, they weren't too specific on what region/regions they were talking about IIRC.

That is something so many are forgetting.  Last year, Kinect was the IT gaming device to buy.  This year, it is going to be the 3DS in many regions and the 3DS and Vita in Japan.  The only way Kinect is even going to come close to selling like it did last holiday is if MS cuts its price by ~$100.  Which I highly doubt they will do.  If anything, it will get a $25-$50 cut.  And any cut is mostly going to affect sales in the US.  You may also be right about the plan to not cut.  As they already announced a Star Wars Kinect Bundle, which I think releases around December, that is priced at $449.

Good for 3DS worlwide.... Hope next week it's still hold up well....
Maybe with this, it will restore developer's faith in 3DS.

PS3 will kill X360 worldwide this year (kill yet Europe and Japan) with or without box pric cut, forza 4 will be under GT5 sales, gears 3 and MW ok but no exclusive M$ will change that.
PS3 is going to win this HD gen war, PS3 has 6 years live left, not xbox.
