I am not trying to provoke anyone, I am just genuinely happy to see nintendo doing worse. I am so selfish that I don't want my gaming experience ruined with the kind of stuff nintendo offers.

As I see nintendo doing bad, I believe next gen might not be as crappy as it looked few years back.

I don't agree, greedy publishers like Activision and EA manage to ruin gaming through extreme milking, dumbification, humiliating brilliant teams and other filth without any Nintendo help. But it's your opinion and you've got the same right as Malstrom and his fans to express it, and it's still milder than Malstrom's, that blamed the rest of the industry for the same you blame Ninty, just to turn later against Ninty because it doesn't make enough Nintendo "classic".games.

1. So which are those extremely milked games? Dumbed down ones?

2. Then tell me that nintendo does not dumb down for example sports games. They also made these "casual" games popular. It is a genre I wish would die out as soon as possible.

1. Guitar Hero, CoD, EA "serial" sports games about extreme milking, for example. Dumbing down happens on shooters with regenerating health, on RPGs of series that had free roaming and become linear, it happened a lot too on PC/XB multiplats due to XBox 1 limits.

2. I don't deny this, and I'm very disappointed that Ninty itself is underexploiting WMPlus higher precision features. But it's not due to Ninty if others do the same on other platforms, logic would suggest that successful "hardcore" games shouldn't be dumbed down to follow the simplest casual games, as the respective markets are very different. And not always simple means dumb, Ninty can (when it wants to) make games that are simple but excellent. Mediocre devs and publishers can mistake simplicity with stupidity looking for an inexistent cheap way to copy Nintendo's success, but it's their fault, not Nintendo's.

I'm as pissed as you about dumbing down of gaming, but I don't blame Nintendo.

PS: about Move, it looks to me that Sony isn't just chasing extreme casual with it, it designed it to be usable in both casual, simple games and in more complex ones, with its high precision required.

How would your gaming experience be ruined by a console you don't own? How did gaming turn into crap when Nintendo won this gen?

Use the google, a good search could be "kinect" or "ps move".

Luckily at least 360 survived without a lot of platformers/kart racers/whatever nintendo makes.

Can you elaborate??? because its not like Kinect and Move are being pushed on the customers, at least not the MOve. there are not that much Kinect games and 360 is still getting great 3rd party "core" support. Hell most of the Move games are "core" games anyway and their mostly optional. So i dont see how those are ruining the system, unless you just hate motion controls with a fury and that is well within your right to hate them, but i would not go so far to say they ruined gaming. The only system that suffered in the "core" department is Wii and it wasnt just motion control

Care to read the first post of this quote once again. Success of the kind of gaming nintendo offers made ms/sony chase the same audience. Now that wii is getting beaten, there is hope that next gen might be good after all.

Kinect/move were just examples of what wii's success might bring.

I can kinda see MS doing this because they seem to be really throwing Kinect as us, but Sony, im not seeing it. They barely advertise Move, what makes you think they will be gaga for it next gen?? Where is the proof of that. So you must be looking forward to Wii U??? Becasue Ninty is all about going after the core gamers with that one and im sure MS and Sony will not give up without a fight

GH and music games I agree on. But for COD and sports games, I disagree. I want a new cod every year and sports games offer a lot of new every year (at least the ones I am buying). For example NHL series, they make it better every single year.

I don't see regenerating health as dumbing down, it makes the action more  frantic. I don't see how it is any "smarter" to run around looking for med kits. Free roaming isn't always a bliss either, I don't want to wander around for hours looking for something. In fact that annoys me. :P

Of course there are some games which make me very angry, for example Dragon age 2. I just can't stand that.

2.

I see it like this:

Nintendo makes simple games and if they are successfull, other developers copy them. That is why I blame nintendo. I don't see any simple nintendo games as excellent, I see them as they are. Simple games.

Ps.

Any nintendo zealots reading my post, I don't need your views on nintendo games. They are not going to affect my view on their games so don't even bother.

You aren't reading my posts.

Why on earth would I be looking for Wii U? To play yet another boring mario platformer/kart/brawler/whatever?

relax, i know your not looking forward to it, it was a joke. You dont like Ninty games, thats cool. But kinda hard to blame them if other devs want to copy them, that is the nature of the buisness

About 1, obviously most is matter of taste, also about regenerating health, I guess it's about tastes too, no regeneration and having to look for med kits means less frantic (but UT can be really frantic anyway, for example, also level design influences playing style a lot), you prefer more frantic. About free roaming, I often get lost in games like Morrowind, but I like them anyway, actually getting lost is to me part of their gameplay.   The only time I didn't like it was in Ultima VIII: Pagan, the lack of a map and the crude graphics making some places look all alike made exploring some parts like the catacombs a pain in the arse.

About 2, for "simple" I mean also games that aren't actually too simple and easy, but are based on simple base concepts, like some 2D Mario classics: other devs see a simple and effective idea and they think a dumb idea and bland gameplay could work the same. Anyhow, despite considering many Mario games true classics, I'm not a Mario fan anymore, I liked a lot the first Mario and DK arcade games, but then I grew tired of them just like I stopped buying Tomb Raider games after the second. And Mario and Wario games I played on my sister's GameBoy and on a ex-GF of mine's one just pissed me off, but it's mostly GameBoy's fault, I hate small screens and small buttons. About simple sports games, the flood of shovelware that followed Ninty bestsellers is very annoying, but I doubt that shovelware devs would produce something better if they hadn't Ninty examples to copy. Actually that shovelware should sell little more than zero: when you've got WS, WSR, WiiFit and WiiFit Plus, you don't need many other casual sports games, even less crappy ones.

You know what Antabus, your post was to provoke people, it was pointless, and after all, Nintendo won this gen and Sony and MS made Motion Controls, so get over it, nothing will change that fact,

It is so nice to be part of these forums since maxwellgt lost his moderation rights.

Before that, you would have just get everyone banned for sharing their opinions. The fact is that this gen is still going and nintendo is losing marketshare as we speak. That could mean a brighter future for us non-nintendo gamers. Deal with it.

The reason I think early 2013 is because I expect Wii to reach 100 million either in late 2012 or early 2013. 100 million at 40% is 250 million total. Sony expects to be at 65 million by April next year and I expect both 360 and PS3 to reach 75 million within a month or two of each other probably around early 2013. Unless Sony cuts price again next year, then maybe holidays 2012 for PS3.

You're expecting a non existant holiday for Wii then.

Nintendo expect to ship 98 mill by March 31st, that could drop 2 mill (but I don't think anymore) so 96 shipped by March 31st. They'll definitely ship another 4 million in the next 3 Q's ....

At this rate it'll happen in Q4, if their forecast drops. If they hit 98 mill by March like they expect, should happen late Q3, or again Q4

I assumed it would happen in Q4 anyway. Early 2013 assumes an absolute worst case scenario, basically sales dropping off a cliff thanks to WiiU and Nintendo only forecasting about 5 million next fiscal year. Obviously not very likely.
