That's forgetting WHY it happened, which is not really a factor this time.

Give it some time Tnk.. NINTENDO will get it gear. I highly doubt They'll let 3DS crash and burn.

It doesn't matter what you doubt. What matters is if Nintendo realizes that pleasing the customers is what made the DS such a hit, not wowing them with tech, which is what they are still trying to do for the 3DS and Wii U.

At this moment, i don't know what is and what isn't. But what i do know is that competition is very good for us, the consumers/gamers..

don't worry, when the vita bombs they'll be back.

You mean IF Vita bombs.

Well, I have a 3DS so I will grab any good exclusives that come out for it, third party or otherwise.

I am definitely getting the Vita for both exclusives and multi-platform games (I want megatons of both) as it will be my main console (until something more amazing comes out, which will probably be quite a while until then). :D

But yeah, exclusive 3DS stuff has been a bit of a sluff so far, hope it gets something good sometime... :/

PlayStation VITA is NOT going to bomb in the slightest sense of Word. I cannot tell if that sarcasm though I think it was.

I have some questions now...

If the 3DS struggled so mightily at selling with a $250 price point, what makes people think Vita will suddenly avoid that problem with an SKU that is the same price and an SKU that is even more expensive?

Say the multimedia features of the Vita are superb; what software will sell the Vita outside of Monster Hunter in Japan? All we have to go by is history, and for the PSP, Capcom, Konami, & Square Enix bore the brunt of PSP support. As it stands right now, is either company in a position to repeat that success?

These are the questions...that test a man's soul.......

@jturner82 - no, i meant when.

@xxain - i'm serious.  i mean, bomb is kind of relative so by bomb i'd say ~40-50M when all is said and done.  i'm probably going to buy it and certainly enjoy it if i do but it's going to bomb.  percentage change wise i think the 3ds will fare worse, ~60-80M at the end.  i'm calling that a bomb too.  this gen of handhelds will be like this last gen of home consoles imo, diversification.  3ds, psvitsa, iphones, android based phones, tablets.  the overall market will still be there but each individual device will have a small portion of the market.

That assumes price was the sole problem with customers buying the 3DS. It's too soon to see if that was the case.

If Vita gets better support then 3DS is dead.  And I know that 3ds will never, ever, ever, EVER get better 3rd party support.

But the 3DS has Nintendo games and that's really the only thing it needs.

It doesn't matter.  Nintendo has said they wanted to get better third party support, and prove that they can also sell on 3DS.  I'm worried that it is already too late and that they will already fail in getting the support they deserve.

On the other hand, it IS possible for the 3DS to initially feel threatened but then ultimately come through, compelling more 3rd parties to stay on after all.

@First bolded:  I agree that the Vita is poised for great third party support... right now.  However if Vita sales have a hard time keeping up due to the fact that the 3DS will have an incredible holiday season with no competition whatsoever from Vita anywhere except Japan, you can bet that over time those 3rd parties will flock to the more successful system.  Therefore, saying that 3DS will NEVER get better support is a bit premature at this point, as we simply don't know how the Vita will perform yet.

@Second bolded:  Here I completely disagree... it does matter.  Coupled with the cheaper price, a Mario game (albiet 3D), and Mario Kart 7, this holiday will see 3DS flying off the shelves due to Nintendo's first party titles.  And honestly, it's hard to imagine any of the announced Vita games' sales power put together equaling what 2D Mario and Pokemon alone are going to do for the sales of 3DS.

Don't misunderstand me; I hope Vita does really well.  I love the fact that it has dual analogue control and the announcement of a Bioshock game is likely enough to get me to buy one right there.  But look at what the price drop has already done for the 3DS, and that's still with just one game out that people really care about.  Point being that if over time the 3DS has a much better installed base, it'll garner more support from 3rd parties, even if they're less "console" type experiences and more "hand-held" experiences.
