Forums - Nintendo - Despite price cut, is 3rd party support for 3DS doomed?

no its not dead but the 2 devices won't receive the same types of games.

50% PSV's games will see cross platform support while 25% will focus on the consoles feature set leaving 3DS at the fromt door but i'd say 90% of 3DS games will make there way to PSV will the remaining 25% of PSV games will see a 3DS release while 3rd parties continue to support there older brothers(or sisters)

Also I think some of you are forgetting about the timeframe - games currently releasing (or should I say not releasing ) are stuff that have been planned and developed long before 3DS launch. So if current period of bad sales is going to have repercussions it will be in 2012-2013.

I have some questions now...

If the 3DS struggled so mightily at selling with a $250 price point, what makes people think Vita will suddenly avoid that problem with an SKU that is the same price and an SKU that is even more expensive?

Say the multimedia features of the Vita are superb; what software will sell the Vita outside of Monster Hunter in Japan? All we have to go by is history, and for the PSP, Capcom, Konami, & Square Enix bore the brunt of PSP support. As it stands right now, is either company in a position to repeat that success?

These are the questions...that test a man's soul.......

You need to examine reactions to price annoucments:

3DS at 250 made a really bad impression on potential customers and you could find a lot of criticism about it on gaming portals and forums

When PSV price was annouced people were suprised it's so cheap and you will hardly find anyone disagreeing with it.

Also, the Vita was being reported as still selling at a loss, which means there is a lot in there. The 3DS was outright said by Reggie to cost that much because of the positive E3 '10 reaction, which made people realize Nintendo was abusing that good will to jack up the price.

The average consumer wouldn't know that.......

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Well it comes down mainly to the games, so it remains to be seen if the Vita has a strong libary. If it does, the sales still might be slow at first, but steady due to games people want, and volume would bring the price down soon enough.

I think it will be wise see if with the 3DS price cut the major releases for here to december gets some really good sales and even a major boost for the console.

Don't forget to not compare it to the launch of the PSVita in Japan, the first 2 weeks of launch are really just the people that wanted the console no matter what games are for it, even the 3DS a launch seems to be good.

Were those 7 total or just by Sony?

Also, this is still well before launch, so that doesn't really indicate anything about how the system or its games will sell versus the 3DS.
