The announcement was terrible, an overpriced laptop. Go home people.

Fantastic.
Now show me an awesome exclusive PC title that is not an indie game.
Aw, shit, got none.

Sure it's not dead, but console gaming these days is ways better.

no offense, thats just the single stupidest thing i've read this week.....

@SeriousWB:
Yep, found it too. I was hoping for something different. That tablet interface is nice, but hardly groundbreaking, its inclusion in a notebook is its only noteworthy thing. The case is cool, but neither that is a groundbreaking novelty in PC gaming..

Still, the specs are pretty good. Have they announced the price?

Yea it's impressive that with those specs they have made something so small and light.  Atleast they have made something that cannot be purchased elsewhere, but that's all it has going for it.

glhf and gg to this madness.

wow that is such a dumb move on their part it's not even funny. Next time I spend $2800 on a PC I will make sure it will be able to clean my house as well.

Sure it's not dead, but console gaming these days is ways better.

Starcraft 2? Crysis? Age of Empires Online? The Witcher 1 & 2? About 90% of MMOs?

You might as well include Team Fortress 2, Oblivion and Fallout 3 considerring how much updates and mods have changed the core gameplay experience.

Crysis (1) will be out on consoles.

TW2 will be on 360 soon. They were gonna port TW1 but decided against it since they don't wanna half-ass it.

Never heard a thing about AoE online, and I dislike MMO's wherever they may be. How much of them are notable, anyway? Wow, the old republic, lineage 2, aion, and eve. Can't think of anything else.

You'd do bad to include multiplats with good mods - that's all they are, multiplats. They are almost always better on PC and the almost sole reason to own a gaming PC.

Starcraft 2 is great though ;)

The almost sole reason to own a gaming PC? And why won't you count indie games? Many of them are awesome and exclusive to the PC.

Because they are not at large. The stance "PC gaming is dead" is mainly the stance of the developers rather than the gamers, and the devs mainly don't make PC exclusives. Indie stuff is so there and so dominant because the PC is simple put the best platform to develop for if you want to do it cheaply and effectively - no devkits to buy, no licenses and fees to pay.

And yeah, the near-sole reason to own a gaming PC.

So you don't count MMO's, Indie games, games that are miles better on PC and what else? Strategy games? Dota-type games? All of this makes PC-gaming very worthwile to me. I'm beginning to play consoles less and less and PC more and more largely thanks to Steam and its discounts. Not to mention all of the emulators you can use if you so wish (to play PS1, Nes, GB, Wii, GC, PS2 games and so on).

Of course I don't count games that are miles better on PC. I said exclusives. Nice condescending statement after that though ;)

Emulators are the rest of the reason to own a gaming PC, good mention.

What is so condescending? You should really look at what you were saying before...

"Now show me an awesome exclusive PC title that is not an indie game.
Aw, shit, got none."  We mentioned many PC exclusives

"And yeah, the near-sole reason to own a gaming PC." If this is what you really think I'm not going to argue with you anymore. You should try gaming on a PC some time.

All I got from this is MMO's, 3 exclusives, some indie games (lots of which are on XBLA, PSN, and WiiWare, anyway) and superior multiplats. Nice job! Your condescence was in asking me what was I gonna say next.

I did try gaming on a PC. But its only advantages vs a console is in pushing better graphics and framerate and having better controls in shooters.

This thread is hilarious; I'm loling hard.

It looks like certain people are making the argument that the only reason to game on a platform is the exclusives (who cares about superior multiplatform games? Who even plays games like that?) and that genres that tend to be better represented on PC, such as MMOs, strategy and indie games, don't count.

I'd make the contrary argument that the PC has more exclusives. Sure, there are some exclusive action aventure and JRPG and sports and racing games on the consoles, but I've decided that those genres don't count.

At least they got rid of the old keyboard. Ya know, the one that had the button change thing. They just made that into the mousepad or something.

And those are great specs for a laptop, but really guys, you are telling me you can find better laptops for half the price? Show me.

EDIT: The Ethernet/USB/HDMI ports are on the wrong side. Well, maybe just the USB. Not all of us have wireless mice and like to rip ourselves off buying batteries for the damn thing.

No DVD drive? They are just asking us to torrent HD movies. Because how are we supposed to watch HD content on that 1080p screen if there isn't even a disc drive?

Did you see those vents? I wonder how long it would take to overheat the motherboard and melt the GPU.

Playing StarCraft 2 would be a nightmare with those up/down keys.

Dedicated volume control would be nice.

Alright, my complaints are done :)

so, the announcement was essentially making a laptop, with the performance that can be had for a 600-700ish dollar computer you build.

*And thus because of this PC Gaming is not dead*
