Don't they already get huge budgets, and funding from Sony?

How come you think Starhawk won't initially sell good? |
Lack of advertising and lack of consumer awareness. Warhawk did good, but wasn't really a flagship title. I might change my theory based on how Sony treats Starhawk. If they announce some cool game features and make good advertisings, Starhawk might actually sell well.

People who frequent gaming forums like us do associate Sony with quality gaming. But if you ask my uncle or my cousin they don't. They do know Nintendo, though. I have the feeling that this is true for many people, they don't say 'hey, it's a Sony game!' I think they should make their brand better known. |
I tend to think it's more to do with the evolution of Mascots , with Nintendo you have Mario ,Link, Pokemon who are now like Mickey mouse in his heyday synonymous with the brand and pop culture icons, thus Nintendo First Party shines like a beacon has they have these ready identifiable characters .
The closest Sony has come is Crash and they didn't own it so it never shone a light on their first party like Nintendo's.
Research shows Video games help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

They got funding from Sony for their projects, we can only speculate if their budget will increase. However, as Sony purchased them, they obviously see potential in the developer, who may see budget increases, staff growth, access to more play testers etc. as a result. Although, as Sony maintains a very hands-off managing approach, it will be up to SP to propose a lot of those resources. In a more secure position within SCE, logically I could see it happening.
More exciting, in a way, is the sharing of information and technology within SCE's branch of developers. Which could result in SP's future games looking and playing even better.

| Troll_Whisperer said: This is the one success for Sony this gen. They are building a great catalog of first party studios. I think the next step would be strengthening their image as a games publisher. Everyone knows Nintendo, but not everyone who buys Sony games know they are Sony games. People don't immediately identify Sony with quality. I didn't before I started frequenting gaming sites. If I was them I would release them under a single brand (say Sony Games) and I would put it were it's very visible on the cover and onscreen before the game starts. |
-The development and establishment of PSN.
-The relations and partnerships created with new developers outside of SCE.
There's two easy ones.

If there is no rocket robot on wheels remake on PSN then this purchase was a waste of money and everyone's time.

they're good as themselves, no need for more, they just need to make more games, but if there is one studio they should get its Clap Hanz, the guys who make Hot Shot series, i thought they're first party at first.
Awesome news.
