fruit ninja? fruit ninja....Geesh, no wonder people think motion controller are shit. Can't we do better than fruit ninja?

We did better than Fruit Ninja!  Gunstringer is awesome.  I played the demo on Friday night.  On Saturday morning, I was in the store buying the game.  That almost never happens!!

Oh, and Fruit Ninja is a ton of fun, too.   Just to be clear, you get a free copy of Fruit Ninja with Gunstringer (gave my code to my friend).  You don't get a free copy of Gunstringer with Fruit Ninja!

I mean I'm not saying they're not fun, but come on. A copy of a iphone game. I'm no 360 fan but I am willing to admit, Kinect looked awesome. So many awesome and mind blowing games can be used with no control. The ultimate fighting game, Real hack n Slash, the list goes on. Instead we get a fruit slicing game. And people are content with this! Kinect won't go anywhere if we don't demand real goddamn games.

Gunstringer is not impressive. It looks like you can play on Move or the Wii for that matter. It's suppose to be body integration but all you do is use you arms, while you could just play the game with the Move controller and navigation which would probably make it even easier. SO while it's fun, I can't say for certain, It looks like a Move game to be honest. One thing I'm not sure about is the entire game on rail? or just some parts?

It's just an arcade game. Not suppose to be anything impressive just fun and simple, which it is.

I don't understand why you bring up the Move or Wiimote. Just because a game would maybe be better on another system doesn't mean it should. For example just because a game like say, Killzone would sell better on the 360 doesn't mean they should release it on the 360. The Gunstinger is impressive and fun game. Do you know who Twisted Pixal are? If you do you would know all their games are quality and extemely fun. There is a reason MS bought them.

I don't understand why your complaining about two games you haven't played and probably will never play.

Yes, they swallowed it.”

I just said I wasn't aguing whether it was fun or not. You're right, I probably wont play neither, I'm just pointing out that it could work just as well with Move or Wii. It looks fun, but it isn't impressive, that's what both Kinect and Move need. Notice how the biggest selling titles for both are the ones that come bundled with them, by millions of copies. You see, I represent a small part of the market that Microsoft wants: The competition's fan. I love the Playstation brand, I enjoy/like the Nintendo brand but I'm not fond of the Xbox brand. Kinetic was a way to bring in a whole new crowd of people by innovating the motion control zone, but the games that have come out, appart from Dance Central 1 and 2, are not impressive at all. Nor do they make wanna buy a 360. Kinetic has so much potential and what I am arguing is that it's been wasted on these sub-par games. They make a nice addition to it's library but still very very lack luster

Even though I consider myself a PS3 fanboy, It's not out of the realm of possibility that in the future I will buy a 360. I don't like most of the franchises on 360, but kinetic opened up a whole set of new franchises possible, yet they keep coming out with these arcade, on rail, party games that will never be an incentive to buy the Kinect for the competitior's fanbase. For the record, I love motion control. I owned the eyetoy during the last gen, I came very close to buying a Wii (and I mean money in hand and holding a Wii in my hands buy) and I recently got Move (which also isn't doing a pretty bad job at this) I know the main market for Kinetic is casual and families but still. And yes I have herdf twisted pixel. They had a lot of PSN games for a while, still I never got around to try them out.

Basically, Kinetic has tons of pontential but microsoft doesn't even know what to do with it. The gunstringer looks like a cool and we can all hope it sells, but my main beef is with Fruit Ninja.

I can't argiue with you.  There's nothing in The Gunstringer that can't be done with a Wii Remote--not even a Wii Motion Plus--I mean the original Wii Remote.  Fruit Ninja, too.  It's fun and ultra precise but it doesn't break new ground.  It's simple and addictive.  As for Kinect as a whole, I think it's a great device but it isn't for everybody.  I don't know if there will ever be a game like Final Fantasy or something for it.  It would be cool, but I don't think that's the goal of Kinect.

Since getting a Kinect in February this year, I became the proud owner of: Kinect Adventures, Dance Central, Your Shape Fitness Evolved, Child of Eden, Fruit Ninja Kinect, The Gunstringer, and Dance Central 2.  Before Kinect, I wouldn't even consider buying games like those.  I've never owned a fitness game or a dance game (Aside from Space Channel 5) my entire life!  But I broadened my horizons and I like them.  All of the games I named are well done.  Could they be done just as good or better on the Wii or PS Move?  Aside from Your Shape Fitness and the Dance Centrals, most definitely!!

With Kinect Adventures, I was jumping up over obstacles, ducking under swinging poles, swatting and kicking and dodging....and I decided it was a bit too much.  Yeah, it worked but damn.  I was going to destroy my carpet!!  Kinect works but I don't want all of its fucntions.  I'm happy with the pick up and play of Fruit Ninja and Gunstringer--not as showcases of what Kinect cand do.  I'm just happy with the games--same as I am with Splosion Man, Super Stardust HD, or Pac Man.  Your mileage may vary.

What I like most about Kinect is that it's a cool interface.  Today, I was watching Spiderman and His Amazing friends on Netflix.  I was laying on the floor. There was a part where there was a bunch of cameos of Marvel Heroes (this is a 1981 cartoon, btw).  I held my hand up, moved it to the left and the show rewound.  I got to the part where I wanted to see the characters and I said "Xbox, Pause" and it did.  Pretty cool.  $150 cool?  Of course not.  But I still think that's pretty awesome.

Anyhoo, this post is a bit long.  I will say this:  I haven't bought a Wii game since House of the Dead 1/2 in July.  That was already an old game when I bought it.  Before that, Metroid Other M in 2010?  Nothing on the PS Move has enticed me.  I enjoyed Sports Champions, but since then, I haven't touched the peripheral.  I keep finding myself purchasing Kinect titles--and I keep finding myself actually playing them.  It's something I can't put my finger on.  Kinect isn't as precise or as hardcore as the Wii or Move and those devices can do a lot of what Kinect does--and they can do a lot of things that Kinect simply can't.......but I'm having a lot more fun with Kinect.

This shouldn't even be considered an argument really, I guess it got out of hand and it's great that you enjoy kinetic. The more people use, the more incentive for studios and developers to get onboard. I mean, what I would give to see a game like Heavy Rain on Kinect. It would be just perfect. The thing, I want to like kinetic, I do, but it would be an extremely expensive purchase (on my budget) to afford both a 360 AND Kinetic. So thats why I become so dissapointed when a game for kinetic comes out that doesn't wow me. I need that 3 or 4 games to come out where I jgo "holy shit, I must have this." But so far my list is at Dance Central 2. I guess I'm hoping for a bit too much, and kinetic is still relativily young. For those with a 360, Live and all their stuff setup, it's easier to get started.

Short and to the point, in the Xbox Achievement league, Neoratt (our 360 leader) basically said that Kinect is for entertaining kids and girlfriends.  He's right.  They eat it up!  For a real game, a controller is a better option.  I finally accepted that.  When I did, I loved Kinect for what it was instead of what it wasn't.  Can't recommend it to any hardcore gamers right now.  Probably never will.

I just bought Kinect a few weeks ago, but I've been paying a lot of attention to what has been happening since Microsoft announced Natal, and I'm pretty impressed with the games that are coming out at the moment actually. You have to remember that despite even though we've had EyeToy, Kinect is still very new and developers have never had anything like it to use like this. It will take some time before we start to see the really amazing stuff, but playing through Rise of Nightmares makes it clear to me that there is potential here.

Developers are slowly starting to get it more and more, and are starting to take a few more risks. Leedmees is an excellent example of a good Kinect game, where the developers have a good idea and make a small game out of it for example.

But don't get me wrong, there's no way the current Kinect line-up is worth buy both a 360, a Kinect and the games themselves for. Wait a bit longer before buying, but I guarantee you that progress is happening, and at healthy pace as well.

Trust me, I've been following the situation closely, reading up on how developers have been doing, and there's a lot of experimentation going on. Just look at this year's E3 compared to last year, and you can see the progress that's happening.

But Kinect is very hard to really utilize, partially because it's really new and partially because it's really different. But Rise of Nightmares is actually a decent first effort for a "full" game played only with Kinect, and can be quite enjoyable if you're into motion controls. Games like Ryse and Steel Battallion should give us a good idea of what is really possible in the long run.

Trust me, all things considered, Kinect is coming along just fine.
