Sure and the timing of previous big adjustments is merely a coincidence ;)

The previous big adjustments happened after Nintendo released their own official number for all consoles ... nothing to do with NPD.

The official shipment report is coming in 1-2 weeks... so I doubt VGC will ajust anything before that.

   2010                2011
Jan 333K    381K + 14%
Feb 422K   535K + 27%
Mar 338K  433K + 28%
Apr 185K   297K + 61%
May 195K  270K + 38%
Jun 452K    507K + 12%

Since the whole purpose is to know how many units are in customers hands all units need to be tracked. After truly to MS sold units are what are shipped and those are not reported by VGC other than in news reports and forum threads. I am willing to wait for adjustments to occur when shipment numbers are reported and sales numbers are adjusted to reflect well if X shipped Y units through Z date we estimate W units on store shelves so Q units are in customers hands.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

What astonishes me more than anything is how this site continually time and time again over tracks Wii. Its unbelievable really to be that consistantly overtracking one particular console.

Not to mention even if 100k of the 360 sales were from laptops that STILL means Vgchartz was off by 100k units that they can track. Honestly with the way hardwares gone and pre-order data has gone vgchartz has not been doing to well lately.

The likes of N4G and other sites are made to put Rumor in front of anything VGChartz related.

yeah they adjusted...up 18k?wat?

So how much up is the 360 overall worldwide this year? NPD looks to be around 423k, as it has been up every single month, but is that the case worldwide as well? Is this still looking realistic for this to be the 360's peak year?

2010 YTD - 2011YTD (NPD numbers)
  1925K         2423K + 26% (25.87%)
       or up  by 498,000

June was pretty astonishing for Xbox360 in the US and it may indeed exceed 2010 for the rest of the year too, but the next couple of months is where it could really lose ground, that being said we all expected that to start with June but look how that turned out.

July 2010 was 440k, and they HAVE to be down, but if these deals continue into July they could pull 350k, so only a 100k drop. Then if they drop price in August they'll be up on last years 350k, if they don't they'll likely be down 50 to 100k.

In which case they will 100% cut in Sep with Gears, and that will be rapidly up YOY (480k), for the rest of the year, MS will be up. I don't think their claim they will be #1 WW is made lightly, they wouldn't keep repeating it unless they were sure.

Hm. This makes me wonder how Microsoft will handle the 360's next price cut. Given these sales and Gears of War 3 coming in just a few months, it doesn't look like the 360 will need a cut in the US anytime soon. Actually, it seems like that'd just cost them money at this point.

On the other hand, they could probably use a price cut in Europe, but they've already cut price in PAL territories more than they have in North America, unlike Sony/Nintendo who have done simultaneous cuts worldwide. Cutting the price yet again in Europe while keeping the price the same in North America is probably not something they'd like to do.
