I do think it a bit of a rash decision but then they shouldn't have had people listening in on and hacking into a murdered teenagers phone, disrupting police investigation and causing more grief for the family. Before these last 2 days it was just celebs, then it went a bit too far.

Although, give it 2 months and we will have a 'The Sun on Sunday'.

I'm sure the Sun can more than fill the gap of crappy newspapers that fill the minds of the public with sensationalist garbage with minimal relation to reality.

Though the Guardian may be an irritating paper, it is at least halfway serious. I would much rather see the Sun, the Mail and the Independent shut down.

I don't see why I should accept the fact that the two most popular papers in this country (one of which is fortunately now defunct) write such garbage as they do. Freedom of speech is one thing. Outright lying to your readers, and hacking phones to steal information, is quite another. I'm happy with the Mail and the Independent's existence; I just think they write complete rubbish.

As for the whole unemployment thing, all of these people are still brilliant writers. Now they can move on to writing real news. The News of the World's name has always been synonymous with tabloidal, sensationalist nonsense, and now it's also synonymous with phone hacking. Not a nice place to be.

I'll start cheering when News International is gone the media needs a purge of all the corrupt bullshit that controls it, but i have a feeling i'll be seeing a fair few blue moons before that happens
