If the pass is 10$, I think it's fine.

yep exactly, and I don't think this will kill off used game sales BUT (especially if they price the online pass for a low price) it will make used game sellers to reduce the price of their used games, which could be win-win

thats looking at the glass as being half full, i wonder who r these cheap asses buying 55 dollar used games, just spend the extra 5 n get it new

Gaming isn't a cheap hobby, if you don't have the money then don't play games or get a damn job, otherwise just suck it up and accept that these businesses are trying to take the least harmful approach to make money on games they've developed and continue to support online.

Pisses me off sometimes, I live in Australia, the average price for a new game here is like $100, but despite being a student and only working part time I still have the money to buy games new. Even with the PS2 and Gamecube I would work and save up money to spend on my hobby, it isn't as hard as you think. Gaming is only expensive to the people that have no money, for everyone else it's fine.

You know, kids and students aren't exactly rich people but they want to play games. I'm pretty sure that if kids and students didn't play games, the industry would be in a much worse situation right now. And when people grow up, they'll usually have more money to spend on games.

I'm a student myself and I don't have enough money. I'd get a job if not for two things: 1) it'd either delay or hurt my studies (my schedule is quite full) and 2) I couldn't get a summer job despite trying.

Ill just run a really long cable from my playstation to their tv. Problem solved.

That would make sense if we're talking about the difference between a $60 and $30 game, but we're talking a difference of $5.  If you're a student who can afford to 1) have a game console and 2) have the time to play the game console then $5 shouldn't break you.

If $5 would break you, you should probably have more concerns than playing a game.

This sucks. There is absolutely no way any normal person could try to spin this in a positive light. Stupid move sony.

That's stupid. Whatever little interest I had in the game is gone. I wasn't gonna buy R3 new so now I'm not even gonna bother if I have to pay for a pass.

So your telling me, that you were going to buy it for 55$, just to save yourself the 5$, and now you are going to miss out on one of the best shooters of the year, for that? oh the lulz.

One of the best shooters of the year? Oh the lulz.

I guarantee it will have a sub 90 metacritic score.

uhh, that makes it one of the best shooters of the year lol. Either way, stop being so cheap and just pay the extra 5$

since i just got my ps3, I am buying almost all my games used...
Will this PSN Pass be necessary for used games released before Resistance 3?

You are under the assumption that he isn't a good buyer, within two months I could get any game at 60 for 40 (Normal Trend plus or minus 5 bucks), and within 6 months for 30 (plus or minus 5 bucks), within a year depending on the supply and demand of the market maybe even less. People have to stop assuming the market is gamestop and that is it.

However with a pass system this formula still happened. First week it saw copies for $50, but with the online pass it is practically $60. When it was 40 in a couple of months it was actually 50. Now it is sitting around $30-40 (which means that isn't that much cheaper using normal trends) (didn't bother checking anymore since Steam deals rule).

This is a bad move by Sony for customers (Business wise this is the smartest move sony has done in awhile), I typically don't resell things, but I like having the option that they are still worth the value I paid for. (Edit: I mean that the are still retain a decent trade in value).

Having said that I am getting the 3DTV with Resistance 3 (I really don't have an option in the game selection it seems, maybe I could sell the game with the code.

Add: There is one thing Sony could do to really screw this up (in relations to how EA does it). Sony could try to kill the renting market....something EA didn't do (you can try online free for a week for all EA pass games). If sony does that, I would really lose respect for them.
