I think Nintendo is losing it

they said they want the hardcore, and hardcore = graphics x online x 3rd party games

*jesus, i think i'm losing it more than Nintendo :P



don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

You know, the headline in this thread really doesn't have much to do with what was said here. I would be sad if Nintendo said they didn't want to aim at having the best online gaming experience, but they didn't, they just said they didn't want to be the number one online gaming company. That means they're not going to shift towards being a major presence in online games, but it says nothing about their ambitions with the Wii U online infrastructure. Just because they don't want to produce a lot of online games doesn't mean they won't give the Wii U the best online experience in the industry. I doubt they will, but they could.

Lol seriously people? If I say I am not going to do the best online game ever does that automatically mean that it will be crap?

NO it just means it is not the best but it can be very good anyway!

I think the media hates Nintendo so much that all of them are misleading us :P its a conspiracy I tell ya!!

When your goal is to be not as good as your competitors it is bad. When your goal is to be not as good as your competitors where 7 years ago, its bad. There is absolutly no reason why Nintendo should not be aiming for an online system that is as good as or better than PSN/XBL.

When your goal is to be not as good as your competitors it is bad. When your goal is to be not as good as your competitors where 7 years ago, its bad. There is absolutly no reason why Nintendo should not be aiming for an online system that is as good as or better than PSN/XBL.

Not having to pay for online gaming is my main concern.  I am sure their online capabilities will match what is offered through free PSN.  If they don't have cross game voice chat, downloadable demos, etc that would be my least concern.  I've used my Wii probably more than 600+ hours online on games such as Animal Crossing, WaW, Black Ops, MH3, Mario Kart, etc...(probably near 900 if you count Netflix, Everybody Votes Channel, News, etc..).     I don't know about you but I had plenty of fun playing online on the Wii (and it was free).

Online seems to be pretty open if talks of Steam are popping up in conversations.
Don't know if people meant a Valve game on Wii U or literally the Steam shop?

I'd like elaboration on this because I can't possibly see how someone would truly believe that unless they are mostly thinking about Virtual Console, and then I would question why Nintendo is being praised for their ability to rerelease games online.

 WW is just pathetic as far as good, new content goes.  What cemented this for me was walking by Nintendo's booth at E3 and not seeing a single WiiWare game up for display.  If even Nintendo can't find something to be excited about on the service how can anyone else be expected to?
