Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Who got Ocarina of Time 3D? Impressions?

I thought the gyro-aim controls would be some silly add on gimmick, but I'm really impressed with them. This isn't some half-assed port, this game is the real deal. Incredible stuff. ^_^

@JGarret

I don't have PilotWings, but the 3D in OoT is used in a fantastic way. There's a real sense of depth to the world around you... and that was just the Great Deku Tree. Can't wait to see how the rest of the game looks.

Oh and lol @ the User Score on the game page.

.....I really wish the 3ds wasn't 250 as I want to get it for ocarina, but 250 is an ouch.

So, Smeags, do you see yourself only playing OoT with the 3D mode on?...or do you sometimes leave it in 2D?

Love it and the 3d is amazing. Its been over 10 years since i last played it and it feels like a brand new game. Well done Nintendo, well done.

The 3D is nice, but so far, it took 1/10 a second to get the look-into-the-window focus. I actually don't like how the text is flat in front and the rest in 3D, making the focus change every time I read the text.

Aye, that's a little bothersome. Perhaps they could have crammed text on the lower screen too

The only other thing that bugs me is that i keep wanting to use the Y button for my sword, but i guess that'll go away after a while

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

@JGarret

Yeah, 3D is the way to go after making it to Hyrule Castle and checking out both 2D and 3D. I have it on 3/4 of the way... that seems to be the sweet spot for me.

@Mr Khan

I'm right there with ya bud. Wasted a couple of Deku Sticks because of that.

I have played a bit now and it feels like I am proceeding to quickly. I am at the third dungeon though I need to get a fish to make lord Jubjub open his mouth.

I have been exploring, getting the magic bar, some heart peaces and learned a few songs.

I love the upgraded graphics and the 3D but sometimes when things get too close to the screen my eyes cross lol. Like grabbing a chicken and the feathers fly towards you or the text so I have to adjust my sight. Once you get used to it though it gets easier and does not bother you that much.

I love the way you control the camera when your in FP using the slingshot. Fighting Gohma felt like I was there and having too look up on the sealing to shot him in the eye :D

I love all the improvements and it makes the game even better. I just love how it feels looking over Hyrule field. I am glad Nintendo chose to have 3D in 3DS!

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

It feels a lot like staring into a window when you barely woke up and trying to focus, though.
It would be nice once we get glassesless on bigscreen TV.

I need to find a way to record myself while playing to see if my eyes cross, lol.

It's the best version of the best game of all time. 'Nuff said...

Oh alright then

The 3D really adds to the game, and that includes stuff coming OUT of the screen at you, as well as adding depth! The depth makes the graphics (which look great) look even great...er, and the new lick of paint given to character models and shops (go into shops, and the shelves are packed with items etc. and there's posters of other areas of the game around as well) make it feel much better.

As for the gyroscope, it works well! It was an amazing moment moving the 3DS in 1st person mode, looking outside through the window and seeing the beauty of Hyrule field. It's a shame you can't use both the 3D effect and the gyroscope though, but it isn't hard to move a switch up and down now is it?

Oh, the new item system and maps system works well too. I'm just entering Zora's Domain, and I'm hooked all over again, and I've played every single version going (bar, sadly, the original). You'd be an idiot to miss out on this game...

9.8/10

(If you have any questions or anything fire away! I'll answer best I can.)

I have one, does it have multiple save files?
