It seems patience is running thin among a number of NATO players over what's going on in Libya. Things seem to have stalemated despite NATO intervention, and some of the outside players want out, or want to see some sort of resolution

The problem i see is that the only way to go forward from this point is to win. From what i see, there's no way to negotiate the end of this conflict, because what the Libyan rebels want is Qaddafi to leave, which is exactly the one term that Qaddafi himself would never accept. Thus if we just leave things will go back to the way they were (though the tremendous damage done to the Government's war infrastructure would be a boon to the rebels, the rebels clearly can't make headway even with NATO help and the destroyed infrastructure, so in all likelihood the war would continue or Qaddafi would win).

Is there a way out of this that doesn't entail going in deeper, and doesn't entail the rebels getting inevitably massacred?

pull out really fast when you are almost done so you dont accidentally leave any ground troops inside. this method has worked for me in the past and i support it fully.

Well reports seem to show that the stalemate is on the verge of breaking, rebels have managed to actually move forward in the last 48 hours or so.

Its a very easy fix.

Nato is always saying they are not targetting Gaddafi, that he will not be killed by Nato. So I ask Why The F not? Gaddafi is killing his people he is an enemy of Nato. Nato says Gaddafi must go for their mission to be a success, yet they don't want to kill him. Theirs an easy way to end this war, assasinate Gaddafi, kill his son's if at all possible. Hit every Government target that supports the slaughter of civilians. Then after a month of bombing stop, return to the negotiation table with the new leaders in Tripoli, step back and let the new leaders in Tripoli and the new leaders in Benghazi work things out. Maybe send UN peacekeepers to over see a free and fair election and wamo war over.

Now worst case scenerio Gaddafi's dead and negotiations fail. Well side with the rebelion send combat trainers to train their army, equip them with weapons and body armour. Then leave them to defend the civilians from the Libyan Government. Chances are with Gaddafi gone many more Government officials will defect to the rebelion. The rebelion will then take over the country.

Either way Gaddafi has to die, its like if the US invaded Iraq then left Saddam in charge when they left. Saddam had to die and so does Gaddafi!

Quite simply keep doing what we are doing, but put more focus on targeting Gaddafi. He can't hold on forever, and eventually, we will win.

America would dearly like to avoid the idea of assassination of a head of state being an acceptable act during war. That is why they're unlikely to assassinate any head of state (or at least to do it in a way that is easily traced back to them).
