I think that this year, yeah you should be lol.

and @ maxwell, we still dont know if third parties are really with Nintendo. I need to see that they are commited to making thier games on the system and that once in a while there will be an exclusive. good ones. To this day, i cannot believe how many games the wii has missed because of lack of third party. It ridiculous. And i am not going to be missing out on it, next gen, or the gen after that.

I'd only complain about how it was shown @ E3. Admittedly, I'm not sold on it yet (although I do acknowledge that's innovative in it's own right), but what was shown to me wasn't enough to make me run out and pre-order it, and without exact specs and price, I'm even further in the dark.

I do agree that many will hate just to hate, but then that's not really exclusive to Nintendo.

Reasonable post, as for their presentation it wasn't the best to get the idea across to everyone, I really get it but I'm not a typical gamer either.  I don't think they should have came out and said some of that footage was from PS3 and 360 builds, cause others don't admit that they use PC builds to show off a console game and it's just normal practice this gen.

And no hate isn't exclusive that wasn't what this thread is about, it's just talking about the examples to really hate on Nintendo the past couple of years, needs HD console, needs more third party support, needs to cater to the core, they show off just that, and the tune switches to well now no one wants it cause they already own PS3 and 360... and it's sorta hypocritical when you think that these people owned a PS3 or 360 when they said Nintendo needed an HD console

BTW people take this thread a bit too serious, I find people who do this sort of thing hilarious, you know contradicting themselves, but I like pointing it out.

Well, IMo they don't/didn't need that. But to the people that SAID that, I imagin it was for like, years ago. Gamers have standards generally, what they're doing is catering to the core very poorly, so yes I can see where their complaints are coming from.

It's not that people have excuses. Nintendo didn't share the info to build hype, they just announce the concept. Remember that Iwata wants to show few about it becuase they don't want to give time to their competitors to do the same.

Nintendo knows that they have at least 1 year to finish the hardware and show the capabilities and software.

Nintendo shows a console with a bat-shit insane design that is offering something we've already had for years and they are already applying constraints to that very console. They aren't offering anything new to the people who own any of the current consoles, we haven't seen a game that will blow us away visually, we haven't seen the console play a game well in terms of controller input and everything coming out about it in regards to it only makes it's concept seem much more constricted than it should be (one Wii-U controller per console, dodging questions relating to their online implementation, no Gamecube BC, 3DS pads instead of actual sticks, D-Pad under the 3DS pad).

It also doesn't help that they didn't explain their approach very well at their conference and despite the whole 'we want the hardcores' thing they've suddenly decided to jump on, all we got from their conference was a shuriken throwing game, some ports, some Mii's, some lame golf thing and another Mario game.

Nintendo showed me nothing that impressed me, all they've shown is that they took the 3DS approach and have decided that the easiest way to come up with a new console is to think of an old gimmick and bring it back as a new innovation, while also offering nothing good to show off that gimmick. I also can't rely on them to support their own crazy concepts, it's not like they did a great job with it on the Wii outside of Wii Sports. They went for the shock approach again and I don't think it will work this time.

It could all change by next year, they might take some criticisms and work on them, but I've seen what Nintendo did with the Wii, they rarely ever listen and if they don't listen, then I'm not interested. I'm not going to fall for their bullshit a second time.

Now watch as this thread will be filled with Nintendo fans agreeing with you, instantly going into defence mode over a console they know barely anything about and continue to support a company that barely releases any games for their current system and has actually allowed Tiger Woods PGA Tour and a Street Fighter port to be the best releases of the year for their systems. I'd recommend approaching the Wii-U with caution, because I think Nintendo have been a bit lost as of recently and you guys are going to be the ones to suffer in the end.

Just an addition, I laughed at the 'jealousy' claims, jealous of what? That I can actually find a use for my system this year by playing dozens of amazing games? That the future of my system isn't a hanging by a thread called Skyward Sword? That I actually have options in the things I want to do with my system outside of leaving it in a dusty cupboard or playing NSMB Wii for the 50th time? Don't be silly, people have a reason to be critical of Nintendo and their approach to a new console and that is because they have been an extremely sub par console publisher as of recently.

Seriously, will you marry me?

OT: Until i see a strong online structure, good *and by good i mean real, not just ports* third party support, and 5 new good first party ip, im going to stay hating. And its not nintendo, rather thier desicions.

Maybe, are you a hot brunette with luscious curves?

A little meth and i can be anything you want baby ;)

Who wouldn't want to see Starcraft II on this thing?

Sure it would be much better than a controller, but it would still be extremely clunky and slow.  People seem to always forget that RTS games (and various other PC centric genres) are just as much about having a keyboard with dozens of hotkeys as having mouse control.  Not to mention using your finger or a stylus is still a pretty awful substitute for a mouse, and that's ignoring the fact that a mouse has multiple buttons as well.

You could probably make an adequate single player campaign designed with the WiiU controller in mind, but I wouldn't want to play multiplayer on it.

I would never see Starcraft 2 on the Wii U in a million years, tablets seem very different to a mouse in my opinion.

Congrats on the 2,222th post btw ;P

I dunno man, one of the best things avout starcraft is that there is multiple places to actually press to do an action, you've got hotkeys, actual pictures to press on, mini map, arrow keys, and that's what makes playing competitive so fun, multiple styles able to duke it out.  And back before it was shut down there was a starcraft port being made on homebrew for the DS, I played it, the concept does work and feels quite natural to me.  This is also coming from a guy that was playing Starcraft II pretty seriously for a while, I'm a casual Starcraft player at heart, that's the way I was with the original, cause I'm better than most people I know except for my friend/constant partner, and I think it's a brilliant idea.

Basically don't knock it till you've tried it man, there are some light RTS elements in a few DS games already you could give those a go, though I must admit they aren't up to Blizzard calibur
