Just seen this image at Eurogamer:

Hopefully you can use the wiimote also!!! But I like the idea of using the U controller as a spawner

This is what the Wii U is going to be about. Two games in one, pick the one you'd rather play, then change things up when it gets boring.

Now get that goddamn classic controller outta my face. This isn't 2003 or a fighting game, and dual thumbsticks have no place here.

O'rly?  Is that why the Wii U gamepad itself has dual thumb sticks (or sliders) on it?  And is that why 3rd party support was so massive for the original Wii... because dual thumbsticks, which 98% of today's "core" games utilize, have no place here?  Because dual thumbsticks are sooooooo 2003.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

O/T: Is it me, or do they look like alien Rabbids. Also, that concept in the Eurogamer pic is pretty neat.

Rabbids + Critters = Killer Freaks.

Anyway, it looks kinda fun. Definitely my kind of FPS, unlike what you usually expect from the genre...

Why didn't Nintendo show this at their press conference or at least why didn't Ubisoft show it at theirs

Exactly my thoughts... I really like the multiplayer aspect of it! RTS vs FPS seems exciting

The Wii U controller has dual thumbsticks because you can't use a pointing wand with a handheld tablet. Also, note that this game doesn't use the Wii U controller for a shooting game, it uses it for an RTS game, where pointing will be done with the touchscreen, rather than a thumbstick. The only good reason to use thumbsticks for a shooter is if no superior pointing device is available.

I'll stop short of saying that core gamers on PS3 and 360 are stuck in the past, though their default controllers clearly are. Lets just say that they're chasing a different kind of future: One of visual fidelity and online multiplayer. Nobody bought the Wii to get 2003 gameplay (some may have bought it for 1995 gameplay), and I'm going to think twice about getting Killer Freaks if half the game is just a reskin of Halo: CE.

The Raving Rabbids went from a funny, cute franchise on the Wii to Killer Freaks from Outer Space on the Wii U.

So this is what Nintendo meant buy getting the hardcore.

Looks pretty cool. It definitely has my interest. I am loving the asymmetric multiplayer we are starting to see in the Wii U concepts.

@famousringo

I agree. I don't want to go back to dual analogs after using the IR pointer. It is the best hardware innovation on the Wii in my opinion.

Also Ghost Recon Online, though admitedly that's also available for PC.

Anyway, this does look like a cool idea for multiplayer that makes the most of the WiiU's hardware. Just imagine what you could do for a game like Left 4 Dead with this setup

Looks interesting!
