Forums - Microsoft - I'm calling it now, Microsoft announces a new platform.

MS's handheld is the Windows Phone OS.
Don't count on a standalone.

As much as I suspect a MS handheld is inevitible, I don't think we'll see it THIS year. Not only would it make them look silly, but without Japan (the handheld's home), a lukewarm start for the 3DS, no rumours and miilions, nay, billions of dollars invested in Kinect, it seems like a suicidal move.

If we're gonna hear about a new gaming console this year, it'll be from Apple.

Billions were not invested in Kinect, stop talking crap you made up.

And a handheld is not inevitable, MS are not stupid, there is absoloutely no room in that market. Windows Phone 7 is their 'handheld'

At least 500 million was invested, and that was just advertisement! :P Most likely seece, it was a 1 billion dollar investment. Apparantly Microsoft Kin was also a billion dollar investment (I did any assignment on this), so it is reasonable to assume that this might be as well. However.... he is most likely making crap up.

Nah, to buy the techonology (which was pretty far ahead anyway) and the isralie company, was a mere $30 mill

Edit - and like anything MS could do would be suicidle, that's the dumbest comment I've ever seen on VGC.

I meant the overall investment. Game development, and what not.

Why would Microsoft be pressured into announcing anything, especially since Kinect is successful and actually needs their focus?
Nonsense. The impact of the gamer that actually does follow E3 is not that big.

Microsoft lineup of games has been joke in 2010 and in 2011 so far. That implies they are hard at work for their new platform to launch in 2012 or 2013.

Is that why most sites declared 2010 "Year of the 360" ?

I took the liberty of finding you an avatar that isn't so blurry.

This is a fairly easy prediction to make. If it comes to pass you have a great boast to make, and if it doesn't come to pass everyone forgets about it entirely. This is a coin toss prediction with all upside, and no downside. There is just one real problem with predictions like this, and that is Microsoft will follow the same rules everyone else follows. In fact Microsoft almost never does it like the other guys. A early launch into this generation wasn't expected, and that to me means that a quick delivery out of Microsoft isn't out of the question either.

What I mean is Microsoft isn't necessarily beholden to history. So they probably do not see console unveils at E3 as a must, but they also probably do not see a eighteen month run up as a must. I will make a coin toss prediction that Microsoft will unveil its console next year, and launch it within the same year.

Don't think so and I really hope not (unless its an Xbox handheld)

Where does all that anger come from?
