And there's a LOT of money in handhelds, but you need a good foothold in Japan it seems, which they don't have. It seems, to me, logical to have a handheld like the Xperia Play with Xbox support, I don't think it exsists. If it does then meh :P One wasn't announced anyway, no shock there, eh?

You don't know anything so why do you bother talking about MS and what they've spent? It's all guess work with you. That $500M is for all the way UP to 2012. So no not $600 mill. You completely pulled the other figures out of thin air, you have no idea how much any of that cost.

With 3DS, NGP and the rise of the Phone in gaming, it would be the dumbest move ever. If MS didn't launch a handheld 5 years ago, they most certainly won't now.
