I think Nintendo should try to make their handheld games more tradional.
2D Metroid, 2D Zelda, etc. It's all fine and good to have a 3D mario/Zelda/metroid on 3DS but the focus should be on a more tradional aspect for handheld games.

What? Why am I singled out? It's even more perplexing, because I actually answered both of your questions already. |
Sorry, I guess I didn't read your post well. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in Other M, when in first person mode, the dodge button IS the attack button right? @SmokedHostage, besides the emotional story which is very non-metroid, what's the major problem with the game? I'm guessing it's that there are very few puzzles compared to other iterations but I won't be playing it till the holidays this year so I don't really know what the problems are.

I've beaten the game 3 times - there are no control issues to fix. Even if there were, I'd rather have a new Metroid on 3DS.
What a bizarre thread.

I liked how the game played. To me it felt like playing Metroid 1 on NES again. The shooting part couldn`t be exactly the same because there were times where the camera was behind you and shooting while selecting directions wouldn`t work very well.
I honestly liked the emotional parts on the story. I think it gave Samus a lot of personnality.
The game felt a bit short and not too hard as other Metroids, but that`s more than acceptable.
The side jumps were a pretty cool inclusion and gave the game a more action feeling to it.

I don't want Other M 3DS either. I was just asking if the 3DS metroid playing like Other M would be a good idea. I've beaten Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission and I'll definitely beat Other M. I'm sure I won't have an issue with the story, I'm just scared of the d-pad controls(since it isn't a 2D game) and the auto aim.

Nothing about the 3DS can fix the trainwreck that is Metroid: Other M. It certainly can't repair the character assassination of Samus Aran, it certainly can't patch the numerous plot holes, it certainly can't replace the story with a feasible narrative, it certainly can't give Samus back her strength, it certainly can't fix the worst plot device in the history of gaming ("Adam says ok"), and it probably can't fix the fundamentally broken gameplay.
Better to take Team Ninja and Sakamoto and drive them to the New Mexico desert and steamroll them into a concrete tomb to be forgotten forever. Along with their shitty little game.
There is nothing wrong with Other M's controls.
In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

No, in first person mode you dodge by shaking the Wii remote. Shooting is done with the A button.

are you sure of this?? I don't remember anything about shaking the Wii remote in Other M. I'm pretty sure dodging in first person is the same as in third person, i.e. using the D-pad. Tilting the remote upwards to face the ceiling also works for concentrating in both points of view...
