Forums - Gaming Discussion - So is this the new Nintendo System look? What do you think?

Man my computer is still down so I missed all the nice rumour convo's.

If the controller is real and actually has a 6-inch LCD HD screen, it better only cost 59.99$ and have a battery life of 8 hours.....(Impossible I know). The controller alone would cost about 90-100$ then the console if rumours are to be believed are either (PS3 graphics) (2008 PC graphics) or Next Generation graphics. If it is the latter then expect the console to be 400-500$.

If Nintendo's console is this super expensive super powered machine, don't get me wrong I'll still buy it. But who else will? Nintendo has seen Sony go that route, of course unlike PS3 Nintendo won't have a competitor for awhile so they can get away with a higher price tag.

But seriously the machine they show in these mock-ups could be the most expensive Nintendo console to date.

Heck I feel stupid even talking about a rumour to this extent.

I wouldn't be suprised if Nintendo didn't leak some of these rumours themselves just to throw people off!

I think we should aim for 400$ pricetag for the N6. Nintendo didn't have a problem charging 250$ for the 3DS, they will push it on their next console too because they're in a really good position were any competitor will take at least 1.5 years to get in the market. And any competitor will launch at a ridiculously high pricetag if they want a high jump on the graphics department. Nintendo is confortable with pricetag I would say.

They only need a killer app at launch and people will buy it for sure. Heck, people bought a 600$ PS3 with no killer apps on launch day because it was PlayStation.

I think I'm going to reserve judgment until I can confirm this is true, and that I can see this in action. But what I don't understand is why Nintendo would put a 6 inch screen into a controller, make it HD, but leave the 3DS with lo-res screens. It doesn't make any sense. The PSP has a visibly higher-res screen than the 3DS, and the 3DS's bottom screen isn't even wide-screen. Maybe if Nintendo would have put better high-res screens in the 3DS, then I could see this being possible. The bottom line is that I don't see Nintedo putting a better screen in a controller and not giving the 3DS the same treatment. It doesn't seem something like Nintendo would do. So, I remain highly speculative if this is true.

I don't know why people tell me to get a life. I'm a gamer, I have lots of lives!

THIS IS FAKED.

IGN admits this is a mockup.  This is the exact controller used in the image.  The only difference being:

An picture of mario kart easily found with a google image search (page 3)

As for the console itself, it could easily be a photoshopped router - look at it!

Then, somebody made a slideshow, took some fuzzy pictures at strange angles to make it look legit.

But a lot of people also bought the PS3 on launch day and for the next couple of years because it was a really cheap Blu-ray player.  Nintendo on the other hand does need a killer app at launch or close to lauch if they want to charge $400 for their next console.

Yeah I made that clear in the beginning. But didn't the same thing happen when the PS3 slim was leaked?

Anything from the list below would serve as a killer app for launch:

- GTA5 if rumours are true and if the game doesn't suck.

- Mario Kart Café

- Animal Crossing Café

- Super Mario café

- Super Smash Bros. Nespresso

- Café Sports

- Coffe Fit (specially if it launches by summer 2012)

-  And of course, the Etc IP and the Unknown franchise are also big players in this league.

As you can see, finding a killer app to justify a 400$ pricetag isn't that hard.

Like the 3DS I imagine looking around in the game using the screen on the controller.

Formerly known as LuStaysTru but that was back when I still knew my password.

Nope!

You have a big ol' screen in front of you and they'll expect you to look down at a controller to look around the environment in a game?

no...

3DS is a handheld where the controls are on the console itself. This is a home console.
