those all seems quite negitive in tone ... nintendo really has a lot riding on their shoulders to try and lure the "core" market.  i have a feeling they aren't going to win this battle.

Sounds interesting, though I'm not sure '09 is the 'best' time to release it like Patcher keeps banging on about...

If it's te best selling console this year, like it likely will be, Patcher will look, once again, idiotic. I doubt Nintendo have lost a console for EVERY SINGLE Move/Kinect unit sold...

We all know that, no matter what Nintendo does, the media will hate it and analysts will be looking for Wii 3 and citing it as a failure

hmm nice read makes me think the new system will get better support.

How's that? Because I'm getting the opposite vibe, to be honest.

lol really well it seems like there interested is all and sparking interest is a start.

I'm not so sure this is true, though. At best I see some wait-and-see, with some of the comments ("baby steps" "gimmickry" "uphill climb" etc.) being closer to "I'm not really buying it just yet." There's a bit of selection bias at work here, since apparently none of the interviewees actually have dev kits, but it sounds like they're expecting something like a Wii 2, and that they're not particularly interested.

well honestly seems one guy was just saying that wiis online structutre and some other things related to the interface wasnt as good as ms and sony which is true and they seemed to be taking smaller steps in that department than the competition. though we know nintendo makes great games which should always come first. But im sure once they see the console and what it can do theyll be more inclined.

The only news here is that Pachter gets his news from... *snicker* Game Informer...

:D

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I think nintendo is trying to give third parties a chance for them to be successful early on, but if they screw it up again nintendo is already prepared to rely on their own software to succeed.

Some of those comments make me weep for the future of gaming. And mankind, that such bias and ignorance is real in the gaming industry...

The comment from the Silicon Knights guy made me happy though.

Also, Pachter, lol u so crazy.

I LOVE ICELAND!

I think Nintendo will have a better time with third parties once they get their platform on par with the others.  The golden "money hat" days are over.  It's existance was due to MS determination to prevent any toe hold Sony hoped to get with a non-Windows OS in the living room.  By now it's obvious that the real threat is Apple's mobil and now the XBOX expected to make money on it's own.   Therefor a major headwind is subsiding for Big N.

This is largely what i've been saying. Thanks to cost growth, third parties need to put their games whereever they can, so you're just going to end up with third party parity by default more likely then not

Then it becomes a battle of the first party, and that's Nintendo.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
