Forums - Sales - Xbox not helped by it's "ethnicity"

Apparently they call America Online 'AOL' so the reference to America is not obvious.

That's not true.  It's just easier to brand.  Are you telling me "Kentucky Fried Chicken" started calling themselves "KFC" so that the reference to chicken wasn't so obvious?

There's plenty of stuff in Europe that sells on the *basis* of it being American.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Most likely the Europeans don't like the 360 that much because of it's RROD issue, I mean both the PS3 and 360 are expensive so having it being faulty ain't no icing on the cake, then again it could also be the "we hate them arrogant Americans" but then again not all gamers are into politics.

I MEAN FROM X360!!!!!

And please tell me how an American is ethnically different than the other people of the world.

It's not an issue of that, it's more about starting wars in 20-25 countries on four continents in under 50 years, I think... And yes; it is a big deal outside the US.

lol people upset about US forieng policy take it out on products i find it funny and completely illogical it doesnt matter considering a good product will sell no matter what. Also to blame it only on that idea is complete stupidity what about price? games types? Culture? There are much more differeneces than american made for instance apple sells well world wide with ipods but oh no their american. Some people just dont think before posting.

Im not 100% sure but I think I'm right in saying millions of people worldwide don't feel hatred towards chickens!

But that AOL fact/rumour I gave was on a news program about 15/16 years ago when they were about to launch it outside of USA.

I know there are other factors, such MS being less than popular for instance. You really don't know how upset many people are over Americans right now, do you? Don't accuse me of not thinking before posting, I possess the ability and interest to look beyond my nations border and pick up on a thing or two. I think a European's view on how Europeans see Americans is more valid. "Hey, everyone! Everyone loves Norwegians! I know because I do!"

When given the choice between an american and a non american product of the same kind essentially, same quality then people will choose the non american product. Ipods, etc there is no choice because ipod is the only major brand abroad. With consoles the choice is open so people are given a choice to not sacrifice their enjoyment in the product but at the same time not support a country they dislike. The people I talked to who wont buy xbox's because of the country of origin also say that the lineup of games cater to americans as well which is simply yet another reason to justify their decision with.

I don't think the reason why its selling poorly in europe is because of the fact its american. I think the reason is because the playstation brandname is very strong in europe (and the bundles and price cut the ps3 got only helped it become stronger). As for japan I think the xbox being american is one of the reasons its doing poorly though not the only one. If the japanses rejected all american products then macdonalds wouldn't exist there. I think the orginal xbox created a perception that all the xbox offers is action games and shooters. That perception passed on to the 360 leading to low sales because they believe the xbox has no games that appel to them. Also the reliability of the 360 didn't help matters.

I hate AOL, but i don't hate America. I am not interested in the X-box but that has nothing to do with it being American. I can't say I like the fact that Britain is becoming more "Americanised" but that is because I want this country to be more individual.

I suggest you just hand yourselves in to the mods because you are obviously the same guy that was banned earlier.
