I don't think the reason why its selling poorly in europe is because of the fact its american. I think the reason is because the playstation brandname is very strong in europe (and the bundles and price cut the ps3 got only helped it become stronger). As for japan I think the xbox being american is one of the reasons its doing poorly though not the only one. If the japanses rejected all american products then macdonalds wouldn't exist there. I think the orginal xbox created a perception that all the xbox offers is action games and shooters. That perception passed on to the 360 leading to low sales because they believe the xbox has no games that appel to them. Also the reliability of the 360 didn't help matters.
