"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

people like living in the past? people want to ruin a classic?

Honestly even if a remake releases people will only complain of how the original was better and what not

Have you played Tactics Ogre remake?

New version is absolutly top class quality and shows that any remake from SE can be great if they give it as much love.

That's cause they got the man himself who made the game in the first place to handle the remake.  God only knows who they'll get to do a Final Fantasy 7 remake.  But I'd personally like a remake of Final Fantasy VII, I've been meaning to replay that game and this would be the prefect chance.

Well, while Sakaguchi isn't with SE anymore, the other head writers of FFVII are stil lthere.  Namely Nomura and Kitase.  If they were to make the remake, it probably wouldn't be ruined, just closer to their original vision.

And if FFVII: Crisis Core is any indication, they might even do better than the original FFVII.  I'm not a big FFVII fan, but I'd play a remake of FFVII if it was like Crisis Core.

That's a possibility, but with the way Kitase has been running his mouth lately, he's got his head so far up his ass, I don't think he'd be able to pull it off properly.  And I have an odd feeling he'd make Toriyama do the remake and well; he should have been fired after writing Front Mission.  I personally don't think management at Square Enix is capable of making a proper Final Fantasy game anymore, remake or otherwise.  Or rather Kitase's gonna let Toriyama get his hands on it and Toriyama's hit 3 strikes with me.

I also agree with you there.  I haven't seen anything since FFX that says SE is capable of making a good FF game.  But in all honesty, they've always been hit or miss and one FF game could be amazing while the next is lackluster.  It may just be that they're currently in another 'lackluster' phase what with FFIV DS, FFXIV bombing and FFXIII being the lowest rated main FF game ever.  But even then, its still just opinion what is 'lackluster', since some people love those games.

Also, if they remake FFVII, I'm 100% sure it would be headed by Nomura, since he was a major writer/producer of all the FFVII sequels/prequels and has said on numerous occasions it was his favorite work.  If they hadn't made Kingdom Hearts, I bet we would have had dozens of FFVII sequels by now.  But as I said before, if they could make another FFVII game (or remake) like Crisis Core, I wouldn't mind so much.  Better than anything else with the Final Fantasy brand that has come out in the last 10 years in my opinion.

I just wish they'd stop complaining and saying it would take '10 year to remake FFVII'.  Besides being a completely baseless complaint alone, they could easily just take the engine for FFXIII and make a remake of FFVII.  Hell, they're already making two new FFXIII games, further proving it wouldn't take '10 years'.

I believe it should be remade so that everyone who drooled over the game as an 8-12 year old can go back, play the game again, and realize that it just isn't that great.

I went back and played Final Fantasy VII last Year... And it was still as great as I remembered.

I'm pretty sure if it was remade I would still think it was great.

Im in the rare majority that loved FFVIII.

But I dont have a great knowledge base of FF before or after, so I really cant speak from any source of intelligence on the topic.

I expect a FF VII to be one of the NGP's launch titles, (as was hinted in a news rumor here on VGC) and I think that is a great idea.

The question is; will it be a proper remake, or simply a game with added trophies and upped resolutions?

Either way, it will really healp the NGP launch.

Well, if it was 'remade', it might be made better.  But as it stands now, its a controversial game that some obsess over and others hate with a passion.  As someone who's played all buy one main FF game, I ca honestly say its not as good in design, character development or plot as others.  But that doesn't mean it couldn't be improved with a remake.

If it gets the treatment of something like FFIV DS though, it would just be a port with upgraded graphics.  And at that point, I could agree it was lackluster.

camon , it´s time to make it

soooo many ff7 haters on this site !!!! camon , rly ???????? this game is THE GAME !!!

The vast majority of people in this thread not only said they want a remake, but claimed it was 'one of the best RPGs ever'.  And most people, even myself, defended the game when those others came in here claiming it sucked.

Why do you have to go to the other extreme?  One or two people saying they hate the game is not the majority.

It was for the first Final Fantasy game for many, that's why it gets put on a pedestal. The same holds true for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. These are THE two games for the generation of gamers who grew up during that era.

You know that even this won't stop this thread to spam trough about a hundred posts, right?

Above: still the best game of the year.
