I actually played Conker's Bad Fur Day for the first time in years the other day, still had lots of fun playing. 4 of us also played the multiplayer game "Beach" and we had a blast.

It is true though, some games just don't age well. One game that I still go back to and play once a year is Brigandine, for the PS1. It got bad to mediocre reviews when it came out, but my brothers and I always loved it.  I've considered getting Brigandine: Grand Edition from the JP PSN and try and get through it without being able to read the language.

Tomb Raider and Pilotwings were both great for the time.  So was Conker's Bad Fur Day, Rol.  Sorry to break it to you guys.

I also was beaten by d21 lewis' comment that the original Mortal Kombat stunk.  If it weren't so violent and the characters weren't memorable, no one would have cared about that game.  

I've never liked Tomb Raider, and I've never understood what is special about Halo...aside those nothing comes in my mind from the Snes/Genesis generation and on (I'm too ignorant to tell about before)... Now that I think about it, I tried recently to play some old Star Wars PC game, like Rebel Assault and Rebel Assault 2... I found those quite bad, but (honestly I don't know) were they considered good to begin with? I also used to play Shadows Of The Empire on PC, I liked it but I've also haven't played it in ages. I remeber the N64 version was a fogfest.

I agree actully, i used to have a SNES and a Megadrive (Genesis) when i was a kid. and Mario and Sonic were good, but i that was it really. games were just a way of passing the time - they wernt a form of 'art' so to speak.

then i got a PS1 and i played games like Rayman or Tomb Raider and it was just pushing buttons for fun really, sure it was fun for an hour or two, then i would get bored.

...... then i played a game called Grandia (my first RPG) and everything, everything change.

but that was just the beginning, Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy defined gaming for me in the PS1 days.

and i agree games were never that good, but when FF, MGS, RE and GT came out for the PS1 - gaming became more than pushing buttons - these days gaming is a cultural phenominon and its not slowing down!!

i suppose in Europe we were deprived of RPGs in particular, but for the whole of the world i dont think gaming took off until the PS1 days anyway.

Tomb Raider was good, and still is. It's as simple as that.

Even back in the Vice City days I played GTA3 and I didn't like it at all.

Me too, even though I could understand why some people would like it.  It just seemed like it tried to do everything it could but it did them all badly.  I did sorta like San Andreas but none of the GTA games really impressed me......and yet I still buy them every single time.

Now you're just taking it too far. Battletoads is awesome!
