The pre-orders are high, but I don't think it would be this high if it wasn't for the beta. I'm a prime example because normal I don't usually pre-order games until maybe a month or so until launch, but I need that beta lol. It would probably be around 10-15k if there was no beta. Gears 3 will definitely have the biggest launch yet for a gears game.
Anyone else wondering why the 360 version of portal 2 is higher than the ps3 version despite the fact the ps3 version includes the PC version.

It kind of is. Three quarters of the games on this list are multiconsole games, which appear on the list more then once. As a result there are only 15 unique titles on the list, and 6 exclusives.
I am shocked that with 1.2 million Americas and EMEAA pre-orders for the 3DS that no 3DS game managed to break 50k pre-orders. Does VGC not track 3DS pre-orders yet? Will Ocarina of Time be the first game to chart here, or Kid Icarus?
Also Gears of War 3 is a beast. about 5x as many pre-oders as Reach, weekly gains 7.5x as great, and that game had a beta too! This will be the biggest Gears yet.

do launch consoles get alot of preorders? seems like you dont really need to preorder launch games they just be there lol or maybe vgchartz aint tracking them.

1.2 million 3DS console pre-orders, so about 600k in Americas? Yet no game can get above 45k pre-orders? Why pre-order the console, but not the game of choice?
Either VGC isn't tracking 3DS pre-orders yet, or people are buying the 3DS for the console, and planning on getting DS games for now and 3DS games later.

In my experience SOCOM is fairly popular with older men. Not really the type to be posting on message boards, but then again I'm not sure if they'd be pre-ordering either.
The beta is pretty good from what I've heard as well. I should try it out.

Sure it's the first option, even without a massive system seller it's obvious multiple games will open at over 50k. Look at Japan, and the 3DS sold there were only 400k against 600 k...no game will sell a lot (aka 150-200k), but that was obvious from the beginning.
