Just added precentages to show how ridiculous the difference is right now. I bet by summer, the difference will shrink a bit, but even if Gears 3 only matches Reaches pre-orders, damn! Reach sold over 4 million week 1, Gears 2 sold just under 2 million. If Gears 3 opens to 4 million, it's very likely the game break 10 million total.

I don't think Gears 3 will add as much for the last couple of weeks though...Halo Reach had a slow start for pre-orders but by the time it got near the release it was adding 100, 200, and 300k weeks.

There is no way in hell this will hit 4 million! I say around 2.5 million. Gears 2 was 1.8 mliion this ain't gonna jump 2.2 million! No matter what the preorders are. I say 2.5 million fw. 7.5 million LT.

I think you're prediction is spot on.  If someone truly thinks its going to reach 10 mil when both the first and second games are at 6.13 and 6.18 mil, respectively, they are kidding themselves.  However, it should pull off 7-7.5 mil, easily.

I dunno, this is the first Gears game which has had media attention before 8 months prior to launch. Gears 2 was announced in February of the year it was released, and Gears 1 came out very early into the consoles life. Maybe it won't sell 4 million week 1, but it could very possibly break 3 million week 1 and sell 8-9 million lifetime.

All I can say with confidence is Gears 3 will outsell Gears 2 by a noticable margin. Mostly likely more then what Gears 2 outsells Gears 1 by. 7.5 million LT sales is very likely, but 9 million is possible. If it break 10 I will be mega happa as this is my favorite shooter franchise on a current gen console (I'm really into sci-f and shotguns).
