What we want to happen is distinguihable from what we think WILL happen.
But sometimes they just happen to coincide. :)
Anyway, my predictions are:
Wii: 40mil. Nintendo will cut the price of the system to $199 around late October '08, which will spur the Wii's third big Christmas season in a row. As a result, Wii will pass 50% marketshare by the end of November.
360: 22mil. As with Nintendo, MS will announce a price cut around October/November, but the system will never see the sales that the Wii has, thanks to a lack of AAA franchise titles.
PS3: 17mil. The only major exclusive release of the year will be MGS4, with Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, and the other questionable titles for the system failing to show sufficient numbers to break even. By the end of '08, Sony will find themselves in roughly the same position that Nintendo did with the Gamecube, with all 3rd parties save perhaps Konami making Wii or PS360PC cross-platform titles.
"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."
