i don't understand how you can glean that much from four screenshots, way to early to make a judgement on this |
HIs talk when he introduced the game made it sound like it's just another 3D platformer like 64 or galaxy, and art assets from galaxy appear to be being reused. It is maybe a bit too early to judge, but I think it definitely looks like SMG3.
The tail in the logo was all mysterious though, so there could be something interesting. My speculation is it's going to play alot like galaxy, but have the racoon feather making there more freedom in moving planets.

It's pretty much a no-brainer that these two games won't fulfill Nintendo's expectations, so I don't know why the majority of people who responded seemed to be offended by that notion. |
In the internet world, 3D Marios and Puzzle Zelda are the best things since sliced bread, as it is hard to think there is something better when you've born with suck.

Above: still the best game of the year.

What makes you think that? No 3D Mario besides 64 (and that one was bundled in some places) has sold over 10 million. |
I hope not. The last 3D mario was better than the last 2D mario
The last 2D Donkey Kong Country game was leagues better than both of the above mentioned though soooo....Retro should do the new 2D Mario {cackles like a hyena with pink wings}

One things is clear: Super Mario Galaxy is overrated in the twenty third potency.

Above: still the best game of the year.

I'll second that.
I personally think that both of the Galaxies are better than NSMB Wii.
However I must admit that I think NSMB DS trumps them all.
Nintendo weren't trying very hard with NSMB Wii. Look at the reuse of DS art and audio assets, compare it to the production values of Galaxy. Based on sales, they should have devoted more resources to the 2D one.
Miyamoto seemed less enthusiastic about the NSMB game in his interviews, except the four player multiplayer aspect (and to be honest that part was perfect).
There was a lot of reuse of designs and concepts from SMB3, SMW and NSMB DS (and I mean beyond the fact it was a sequel). Some setpieces were lifted entirely. The level design was OK, but the generic use of "ice" and "coast" environments and so on was lazy.

I can guarantee you that the racoon suit will be a situational powerup, like Galaxy 2's powerups, that is used for certain gimmick sections of the level and wears off after. It ought to be like real Mario powerups: you keep it until you get hurt. But flying would break Galaxy-like level design, so instead of rethinking that they'll just limit your use of it to premade segments. No exploration possible.
Man your nuts no offence. Nintendo EAD has been working on this Mario game for a few years, over one that we know of. Miyamoto commented on it at E3 2010 saying he was already working on a 3D Mario that would use 3D to implement the feeling of depth.
The title has been in the works probably since Mario Galaxy 2 was released if not earlier. As for re-using the art style of Galaxy, theirs only so much you can do to make block's look different. I look at it and it looks alot like Mario64 to me too, does that mean they stole the visuals of Mario 64?
Super Mario 3DS was built likely from the ground up. Is it Mario Galaxy 3 I personally hope not I want big open levels to explore like 64 had. But even if it was Galaxy 3 it would still be a good game and not flop I liked Mario Galaxy 1 2. I hope we see Yoshi gameplay in this new Mario that would be awsome.
I'm very excited for Mario 3DS.
As for SkyWard Sword , the visuals to me look like a cross between the cell shaded look of WindWaker and the ultra realistic look of Twilight Princess. While I don't particularily like the art direction I wouldn't say its going to flop. I will buy the game a millions of others will too. You say Nintendo will see lower financial numbers I think Skyward Sword might undersell TP but it will still be far from a flop. Gameplay wise this game is coming from Nintendo EAD and Nintendo EAD rarely makes a bad game.
I expect to see nothing but good results for either of these two titles!
