Waiting for a movie title that isn't a sequel...  I swear the movie and game industry just can't come up with anything new most the times.   Must make money!  Can't think of anything new!  Last year I think I went to one movie in the theater (Inception).  It was good and all but damn after dream within dream within dream within dream within dream  it pretty much started getting old...  Netflix forever!!!

Animated films are nice and all but give me a break.  It is cheap trick now and sure I love cartoons (Home Movies, King of the Hill, ATHF, Family Guy, etc) the animated movie fad is starting to piss me off.  It is almost to point like oh shit what movie should we make?  A movie about penguins.. Okay make it animated and it will be a hit.

Toy Story is the most popular Pixar series, so I don't think Cars 2 will come close to it.

If we're talking about highest gross outside of the year 2011, then I'd consider The Adventures of TinTin: Secret of the Unicorn to be a dark horse. Any film backed by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson shouldn't be counted out.

Transformers 3 unfortunately, i don't like the series for some odd reason.

All I can say is this year it's anyone's guess which movie will have the top domestic box office gross.  WW it will probably be Harry Potter because of the fan base it has.  It all depends on the legs these movies have... Pirates and Harry Potter should be good for /- $300 mil domestically, don't think MI4 will reach those numbers, prolly in the low $200 mil range tops.  Transformers will prolly be in the /- $300 mil area as well for a mindless summer action flick.  I don't see a "Dark Knight" or "Avatar" type phenomenon coming out this year.

Kung Fu Panda 2 and Cars 2 have the potential to be top earners as well, but I doubt they'll do Toy Story 3 numbers (last year's top movie at the box office, by the way) because they have neither the hype nor will they have the critical acclaim that TS3 got, but each could easily do $250-$300 mil because family friendly movies tend to have pretty good legs and lead to repeat viewings.  Also, you got Happy Feet 2 coming out this fall... that could surprise everyone and be a big draw too since the original was so popular.  And you got the Shrek-spinoff Puss-in-Boots coming out too, but since the last 2 Shreks sucked this can't be any better.

Then of course there's yet another Twilight movie coming out this fall, but fuck Twilight... nobody likes that shit except for teen girls.

So yeah, it will probably come down to Pirates and HP in the end.  Pirates has the benefit of coming out first over Memorial Day weekend, and HP is back in the summer instead of a late-fall, so it could surpass Deathly Hallows Pt. 1.  In the end, this year looks pretty weak for movies overall, so I really don't care which one gets the most cash since I probably won't be seeing any of them lol.

I'm pretty sure all 3 pirates films have outgrossed all the others from the other series. So i'm going with that.

Harry Potter, without even breaking a sweat. I mean, come on, it's summer time, the FINAL Harry Potter movie, AND in 3-D, I mean if any movie has a shot against it, it would be Transformers 3, I have a feeling the new Pirates is going to do poorly.
