Forums - Sales - Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles underperform in sales :-(

Many predicted this title will sell better than RE4Wii and will reach easily the million in sales. And it seemed so: It started phenomenal in japan and better than RE4 in the US. But the sales dropped fast. And now this: last week even the old RE4 sold more than RE:UC in the US and the same in europe. Only in Japan it dominates it's predecessor. So I have to doubt, this title will become a million-seller (RE4 barely reached the million). That's somehow sad. What do you think about it?

Sad? Uc is a damn railshooter. I would have thought that this type of game was relegated to a small niche a long time ago. Re4 on the other hand was a really good game. This shows that gamers have taste sometimes.

yes, this game is not amazing
it is like a shooter using a special gun + UD

= House of the dead !

Time to Work !

I'd wait and see a little. This is definitely a game people will want to play before buying it. That said, I've got it and it is oddly addictive. By all accounts its doing well in Australia...

Why do you people insist on judging whether or not a game is underperforming based on forums posts from fanboys? I simply cannot understand why some of you see this as a valid measure of whether or not a game is succesful. Wii Fit is an unqualified success and potential phenomenon but fell millions short of John Lucas' prediction. Clearly it is a failure for selling 90% of its stock for 3 weeks straight!

The lifetime sales goal for the game, as stated by Capcom, is 620k. It is already within spitting distance of that number and is not slowing down all that much. The game is exceeding the expectations of the people responsible for funding it. It is doing anything but underperforming.

I don't can say something about the quality of the title, as I don't have it yet (I doesn't get a release in germany). I'm not sure how well the rail-shooter thing works. So possibly you're are right, and the game is crap. But in this case it's sad, sad that Capcom doesn't make a better new RE for the Wii.

You are right, it is clearly on track to meet the expectations of Capcom. But many people - including myself - expected more. Don't forget, Capcom predicted 400K for RE4Wii, and it was going far beyond it. So I was thinking, if a remake can sell a million copies, it should be easy for a new title of this series. So it missed my expectations.

Did anyone seriously say it'd do better than RE4:Wii? I remember people saying it had the chances to hit a million, but most realised we had no idea of how well rail shooters sell, and didn't go over the top with their predictions.

It looks like it won't probably hit a million after all, especially since ioi adjusted the numbers down, but it'll certainly beat Capcom's expectations. Hopefully more love from Capcom coming the way of the Wii soon.

They predicted that on a smaller userbase and before they learned how much the Wii fanbase loves RE. Beyond that though, your thread titles is very misleading. You make it sound as if the game was a flop rather than selling well for what it is. After looking at the sales of this game, I have high hopes for the next RE Wii project. I am fairly confident that they are going to make a full fledged game for it unless it just stops selling all together for some reason.

Yeah, I also hope for another RE-project for the Wii. Maybe not a port of RE5, but a well-made spinoff.
